VERDICT: AVOID, unless you're looking for gruff men, sarcastic "service", and overpriced coins.read more

I'm not sure where to start.. Ill just present the situation and let the reader decide…read more About a week ago I walked into this store in an effort to come across a capsule for a coin that I had just received as a gift. The coin that I had received came in a capsule (mint condition), however I was looking for one that was just a bit tighter so the coin didn't rattle in the capsule. After walking in with the coin the owners proceeded to open the capsule (keep in mind that at this point the coin is still a mint condition, never been touched, $300 coin.) After opening the capsule and touching it with their bare hands we proceeded to try and find a tighter case. They forced the coin in a capsule and was then unable to get it out. From there, pliers were used to forcibly remove the coin from the undersized capsule. Since there were multiple different capsules out, with little organization the owners quickly lost track of which capsule top belonged with the bottom. The end result was they forced the bottom of the original capsule onto the top of another capsule. I told them this is what I thought was happening, yet he still proceeded to shatter the capsule. From here it was determined that the capsule I was seeking was not available in this location, yet I had no capsule to put it back into to protect it. Needless to say I was quite unhappy at this point. The owners rigged up a bubble wrap contraption to hold the coin during the ordering process, and I left. The end result was a broken original capsule, a bubble wrap rigged box to hold the coin, and fingerprint/scratches all over my brand new, beautiful coin. When returning today to pick up the capsules, one of the owners tried to state that he had in fact broken one of his capsules and not mine. (despite the fact that I walked in with the same bubble wrap contraption I had left with 4-5 days prior.) The other owner, however, felt this was fair and simply gave me the new capsule as a replacement of my original one. I purchased a second one as a backup. So now my coin is encapsulated safely in the capsule, however it can no longer be considered mint because of the superficial scratches all over the face of the coin :-(. The owners are very friendly and approachable, however unfortunately the professionalism isn't even in the same ballpark for coin collectors. Buyer beware.

I searched on Yelp for reviews and after reading them, my decision was clear. Day's for me was the choice. Once inside the door I was graciously greeted by Marie. When I explained what I needed done Marie asked me if I had Days lifetime replacement policy. I didn't but now I do for sure! It is worth checking out. Very reasonable. Marie then introduced me to Morgan who, within a matter of what seemed like seconds, had my watch happily ticking away again. After Marie introduced me to Morgan she took time to point out out a small frig stocked with complimentary beverages for customers. They certainly know how to treat customers! On my way out other employees wished me a good day and I also had a chance to speak with the manager, Elizabeth, who graciously introduced herself. If you are looking for a jewelry store, this is the place to go! I'll be back for sure.

I often find myself saying to my friends "Pawn - with a W, not Porn with an R & get your mind outta…read morethe gutter while I tell my experience please". Bunch's yoyos. Because they (my moronic friends) mostly seem to think they're all high-end hoity toity purchaser's of goods and services at hoity toity businesses. These sweet knuckleheads just seem to enjoy telling me that they paid this tremendous amount of money for some piece of crap, rapidly depreciating item. Personally, I'm not into bragging, but if I do - it'll not be about how wonderfully I just got jacked. Pawn shop shopping has always made good business sense to me - new or used - never have I had a malfunction, unnoticed painted over and doctored up damaged item. But I've certainly seen my share of repacks pushed as New in the Box in retail stores in Manhattan. So do yourself a favor & drop the phony baloney wanna be posh behavior my dearly dilusional friends. (Yes, I'm talking to my friends I've known personally for years, not my YELP friends, just to clarify). Sam was quite busy upon my initial arrival, understandably so - I walked around, strummed a guitar, flipped through some albums (cool music selections) checked out some coins and cards, electronics and tools - proceeded to depart yet return the very next day. Coleman 425 Guide Series was an immediate sale, Sam worked with me on price, he had carefully saved the extra fuel and funnel - it was brand spanking new - never seen the light of day - beautiful camping stove. Then we proceeded to open the THULE bicycle rack box and tinker with it together - alas, my YUBA was too beefy to fit it. But this is what I'm saying, this is my point - where else will the business owner/manager take the time to perform that level of service? Regular retail operations wouldn't entertain the thought and that's another reason for they are a dying breed of complacent dinosaurs. Sam's got 5 stores, so if your ever in mid Maine - go check 'em out and tell 'em "Mr. Alarming sent me".
