Took my son here. He asked for a six on top four on the side. The barber just buzzed his hair all off military style. Whole appoint took about six minutes so no time given to it at all. There was nobody waiting either so he could have taken the time. It looks horrible!! I feel so bad for my son. If this had been the start of the summer it would have been semi ok but this is end of September and poor kid will have to wear a hat for weeks. Replying to the owners comment: No. This cut is not what he asked for . It's the same length all over. It looks like a four all over. Located in downtown North Bend, this Barbershop will become a regular for the family. My husband stopped by to get his beard and hair cleaned up. Paul worked quickly and had a light conversation during the cut. It was an overall pleasant experience. There are 3 chairs available. There is a gravel parking lot out front that can hold 3-5 cars at a time. There is also street parking available. We will be back again. It is a CASH-ONLY business. I'm torn because I want to keep this secret for myself, but in the spirit of rewarding hard work and talent, I'm dropping 5 stars on this joint. I have bad hair to the point my own wife relentlessly mocks me and will one day divorce me for it. I got my lettuce chopped here at A&P Barbershop, and came out looking pretty good (the highest level my hair can achieve). I took my son, who has inherited my coiffure genes, here at the same time, and they crushed (in the good way) his haircut, too! It's a cool little shop, and they are really nice there. It's cash only, but I enjoy going to the ATM with my son the same way my dad used to take me with him to send faxes. I'm not sure what will happen when the AI Robot Overlords take over and no longer allow us to use cash, but for now this is my new go to place for haircuts. read more

It's basically great clips but twice as expensive. They do not know how to cut hair even with a photo of myself as a reference. Haircut took about 5-10 minutes which is way too fast. I'm sure there is at least one decent barber there but i've gone here 3 times and had one good haircut. read more

Took my two sons in for haircuts. Showed them a picture and explained that we wanted short on the sides and keep the top long which is the style they like. The stylist agreed and said she could do that for us. Both kids got short hair on top. They did not listen at all and gave them a cut that left them unhappy before school. Hair will grow back but please don't do something completely different than we asked. If you can't do it then say so. read more

Not sure what has happened here. Cuts used to be good from Paul, but ever since he raised the price he rushes and it's just gotten bad. I have had probably 35 cuts here and I'm not going back. Yes, it's just hair and it will grow back but this place needs to be reeducated on quality. read more

I believe in supporting our local businesses, so I visited Paul's shop about 2 weeks after he opened to get a haircut for my 2 year old. It was his first real visit to a barber, & Paul was very welcoming and worked really well with him. The cut turned out great, especially considering my son sat still for about 10 seconds total. I went back myself for a haircut a couple of weeks later, and have been pleased with how it turned out. It's grown out really well. I've been going to Seattle barbershops (Squire, Acme) for years, then switched to Weldon when we moved further east. I first met him at the small shop in Snoqualmie and was thrilled to see that he and his wife Airy were working to restore the small corner barbershop that once sat at North Bend Way and Bendigo. After around 40 years as an insurance agency, this small shop is finally getting back to its roots! On this date I got the works: haircut, beard trim and (for the first time in almost 15 years) a hot lather neck shave with straight razor! The shop is warm and functional, large screen TV while you wait, and two chairs to keep things moving. A great addition to the downtown North Bend revitalization. read more

Asked for a simple buzz cut. The guy took all of 6 minutes to buzz my entire head which I thought was impressive and concerning. I went home and I took a look....oh my goodness it looked like half my head was missed. So many long hairs all over. Pretty pricey ($20) for such a poor buzz cut. Awesome new place!! I normally go to Issaquah (very inconvenient living in North Bend) because I've had horrible luck (horrendous customer service, doesn't care about punctuality and very rude to other customers when they ask questions) with other barbershops in the area. I saw this shop and was thrilled something new was close by. It already had great reviews so I decided to give it a go. I went in for the first time yesterday (Tuesday morning) and arrived at 9:58am. They don't open until 10am but Paul was already there cutting someone else's hair which was a great sign! Any other barber shop I've been to in the area has NEVER opened on time (on the days I went). There was ALWAYS a 15-20 minute minimum of me waiting for them to come and open the shop which is frustrating. I opened the door to A&P Barbershop and immediately felt the warm and inviting environment. Paul greeted me with a big smile and kindness as did his wife Airy. I sat down in the comfortable seating area, enjoyed the low key music selection they had playing while I waited for a short period of time as he finished up with another client. The barber shop is small, with two old school legit barber chairs. Paul mentioned his wife Airy jumps in and helps cut hair (kids hair too!) when it gets super busy. There is a huge flat screen tv, small desk and a tasteful amount of decor throughout the shop. From what I observed, Airy helps clean up after cuts so they can keep business moving. It also looked like she keeps the behind the scenes operation going while he cuts- They seem like a great team! Now for the cut. After two months of no haircut, I was beginning to look like Sasquatch so I hopped in the chair, showed Paul a picture of the cut I wanted and asked if he does beard trims as well- which he sure does. He quickly said he "got it" and started cutting and doing what he does. He is quick but extremely efficient and totally nailed exactly what I was wanting in a haircut and beard trim/blend. I can honestly say that NO other barber I've been to has been able to do that. He listened to what I wanted and he knew how to make it happen. I was in the chair for maximum of 25 minutes. He has the ability to talk and cut at the same time which is also appreciated (not many people can multitask in that way). He even asked and put a little product in my hair to style how I wanted it. All that to say, I'd go back again and again. We are expecting a baby boy in May and while I want to of course enjoy all those precious moments of him as a little baby, I sure am excited to bring him to Paul and Airy for his first haircut :) Here are my takeaways from this shop... 1.) Punctual-Opened (before) the time their hours stated they'd be open 2.) Made me feel welcomed and comfortable 3.) Super clean shop 4.) I felt heard when explaining what I wanted 5.) Quick cut with exceedingly great results 6.) Affordable/Worth it!- $35 (before tip) for a haircut/style (if so desired) and beard trim/blend 7.) Open on Saturday's and Sunday's 8.) Just had my first experience with A&P....won't be my last. Paul and Airy were super welcoming and are grateful to be part of the NB community. I love that they changed this storefront, which has been an insurance agency for years, back to a barbershop - which it was originally. It's walk in only and I went in mid day on a Tuesday without a wait. Paul cut my hair. He listened to what I wanted and provided a nice fade. He was quick, but efficient and did a detailed job. He also made a few suggestions which were appreciated. The straight edge on my neckline was nice. So many barbers no longer do this. As an added touch he gave me a scalp massage with this awesome old school massager. A&P is a great addition to our community and I hope they do well! read more
