HV Chimney has been the only service I've used since purchasing my home 17 years ago. And Larry has been my go-to for advice and insurance that the job was properly managed. On this cleaning trip, Larry thoroughly inspected and cleaned the wood burning insert they recommended and installed a little less than a year ago. I didn't expect it to be a big job since we've used the fireplace just about four months in 2025. ( I almost put the service off a bit longer to save a few bucks.) My safety minded brain would not let me. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT: my stove was not in use for months over the warm weather, so we we able to proceed. TIP: DO NOT USE UOUR FIREPLACE FOR AT LEAST 48 hours and insure there are no hot coals or they will need to reschedule for safety. We were ready to proceed. I'm glad I kept my appointment because more soot had built up in the nooks and crannies than was visible. SAFETY FIRST!!! Larry did his usual thorough examination and cleaning an left my living room tidier than he found it. I am considering options for a second fireplace that we decommissioned nearly 15 years ago. Larry took a close look and offered several great options for me. He's honest and Kelly at the office is wonderful and responsive, too. Kelly answered the phone and was very pleasant, professional and helpful in facilitating an appointment and explaining the process of what the inspection would entail. This was very helpful as we have never had a chimney before and weren't sure what to expect. Eric came out for the inspection and was very professional and explained everything in detail. Despite this, there unfortunately was still a misunderstanding on our end. We reviewed the reports and decided to get both the creosote treatment and boiler liner installation. Dave and Matt came to do those and were friendly, efficient and clean. Later, when my husband looked at the work they did, it did not appear to be what we were previous told it would be at the initial inspection. We expected masonry and busting through the cinderblock and there didn't seem to be any of that. We wanted to make sure they were doing what we had been told they would do. We called and spoke to the owner, Robbie, who listened attentively to my husband's concerns. He very professionally and calmly explained the misunderstanding and apologized, explaining that honest work and customer satisfaction is of their upmost priority. We were very impressed with how he handled this and left the conversation having 100% faith in this business and its service people. He even came out again to repair some cracks that had formed once the cement had dried. Robbie went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied customers. The owner, Matt, was initially very nice and seemed competent so I hired his team for a full day to remove trees from my property. When I did the original walkthrough, I mentioned a very large hanging dead branch that had to be removed - it was over my lawn and created a dangerous situation for my family. Matt agreed and knew it was part of the reason I had hired his team. When the they arrived, Matt was not present, and had not explained to the team what needed to be done. So I needed to walk them through my property again and tell them exactly what I wanted done that day, again. That delayed them about an hour. Much of the work was general clearing, but there were three very specific tasks I prioritized - remove two sick trees near my house, and remove the branch from above my lawn. Once this was made clear, they got to work. About halfway through the day, after the workers finished around my house, I noticed the branch was still there and mentioned it to Neil, the onsite manager. He admitted they forgot and promised they would remove it before the day was over, as they were currently eating lunch. At this point there were still about two hours left on the clock. With an hour to go, they started cleaning up. At that point I reminded Neil again, and finally, with about ten minutes left, they threw a rope around the branch but were unable to get it down easily. They gave up telling me at exactly 4pm that my time was up. Neil told me he would talk to Matt later, as it was something they forgot to do and then underestimated the effort for when they finally tried doing it. He would not commit to remedying it though, despite the fact that I had mentioned it as a priority when I hired them, and again repeatedly throughout the day. Almost a week went by, and I heard nothing back from the company, so I decided to call and follow up myself. When I spoke to the receptionist, Jennifer, she was rude and combative almost immediately, speaking loudly and quickly over me as I tried to explain the situation. I attempted to tell her exactly what happened but instead of listening, I found myself on the receiving end of a rant, which culminated in her telling me she was ready to walk out and quit because she was fed up with all the issues. Not professional at all, and certainly not what I was expecting after speaking with Neil (who handled himself very professionally the day the crew was here). Finally she told me she'd have the owner Matt reach out to me directly. Matt did call a short time later, and he was also quite rude and curt and told me that Jennifer was frustrated because she was handling a lot of "unreasonable" clients. I remained calm and explained the situation to Matt, who essentially told me that I paid for time and I used the 8 hours already, so not to expect "free" services. The fact I had hired him for one very specific service that was not done in those 8 hours didn't matter. After much push-back, he begrudgingly agreed to come out and take a look at it, but did not agree to actually remedy the situation over the phone. Matt did come by was able to remove the branch, as it turned out to be an easy job that took him only a few minutes in dry weather (the ground was too wet for the truck the day his crew came). They left the job unfinished because they forgot to do a major piece of the work, and put up an argument when asked to correct it. I received no follow up after the job even though Neil did report my concerns to the owner, I was on the receiving end of a rant from the receptionist, and I was told by the owner that forgetting this particular item was acceptable because they "receive a lot of requests", I "used my time", and not to expect "free work". Mind you, of the 8 hours I paid for an hour was spent re-explaining the job to the crew, which should have been done in advance by Matt. I should also mention that despite Matt promising to haul away the removed trees, Neil told me they'd have to be left on my land as it was too much work to haul them out. So they left large piles of dead trees all over my property which I was later told by another tree company was incompetent and created a snake problem on my land. I now have to pay someone else to remove these mounds. I do not consider any of this acceptable. I hired this team to do a very specific job within a reasonably allotted timeframe. Matt and his receptionist displayed incredibly unprofessional behavior. And by how ready Jennifer was to quit because of all the complaints from "unreasonable" clients, I am suspecting that I am not the only person they have pulled these tactics on. I would avoid this company at all costs. UPDATE: I wrote this review and did not post it, however, I have since heard of people having had similar experiences so I felt it important to warn others.

Over the past several months I have used Troy Bennett (AKA Chancee…read moreEnterprises) on several projects, including clearing areas and applying landscape fabric and gravel, three separate roofing projects and replacement of fascia board and gutters. Each time that I called, Troy responded quickly and came, along with his wife Tabitha (who is actively involved in communications and helping the projects to go smoothly), to assess the project needs and subsequently provide a written estimate. I did not have to wait long to have any of my projects completed. Depending on the project, Troy completed the work himself (the landscaping projects) or delegated the work to the appropriate team. In all instances, the workers arrived on the scheduled dates and completed the projects professionally and in an extremely timely manner. Troy provided documentation of his insurance and took care of procuring all of the necessary permits that were needed for the roofing projects. I have found Troy to be reasonably priced and honest. In addition to the projects that I have had completed thus far, Chancee Enterprises is able to take care of just about any project, large or small related to home and property. I would not hesitate to call him again for future projects. It is a pleasure to work with people who are friendly, honest, responsive and get the job done.

Was looking to have our liner cleaned, which had not been cleaned in several years. Two men showed…read moreup, took one quick look in the fireplace and decided that there was not way they could clean it, the liner needed to be replace, the insert needed to be cleaned and may not even work after that. Lectured us on how to dry wood for 5 minutes, that they would work up an estimate and that we also needed repointing on the chimney. They charged us $150.00 and left after about 15 minutes. After several days we received an estimate for a total of $22,300.00 to replace the liner, clean the insert and rebuild the fire place, with no credit for the $150.00 that we paid for zero work! Proceeded to have two other companies give estimate and both stated that the liner and insert could be cleaned for under $500.00. Hired one of them and cleaned the insert, the liner and now fireplace works great, like it is new. Not a good experience at all and would not recommend or ever use this company.
