My children have been at Sweetwater Episcopal Academy for 6 years and they love going school. Not…read moreonly do they love school, they have succeeded in so many ways. The curriculum is both challenging and exciting and a year ahead of other schools. The teachers are engaging and nurturing. Over the years, I've been pleasantly surprised to see my children motivated and excited about their assignments. Learning is an adventure for them. At Sweetwater Episcopal Academy, each Wednesday morning, all the students of the school meet at the chapel for service and to discuss the events of the week. During the service, Sweetwater Episcopal Academy acknowledges students for their contributions to the community and kindness to their fellow classmates. Those Students come to the front of the chapel and the story of their kind actions is announced by the head of school, as fellow students cheer them on. It is very inspiring. Parents are welcome to participate in all chapel services. Sweetwater Episcopal Academy invites prospective parents to chapel service in a program called "Welcome Wednesdays." I encourage you to drop by at 8:30 on Wednesday and see for yourself.

They teach to each child's academic level and when students finish at Sweetwater, they are typically academic leaders in their new school. Sweetwater is a hidden gem, smaller then a lot of private schools yet on point from an academic standpoint.

Kicked an adorable, well dressed, buttoned up, black child out of the school on his very first day,…read morerefused to let him attend class, because his hair was in dreadlocks. While this may have not been up to their written code for hair styles, the fact that they would disallow this precious child to attend his first day of class is appalling. Though frankly the boy's hair looked just fine to me. It's a perfectly fine African American hair style. Nevertheless, if they want a specific look, fine, but let the boy attend class that day and then inform his parents that he needs to wear his hair differently on subsequent days. How beyond uncaring of the child (whose responsibility for his hair is not his at that age) for them to kick him out on his first day and so having to miss such an important day. They are awful people, who apparently place an image above the needs of children. I would advise against sending your child to this school.

I Give this school five stars for sticking up for its principles. But really how can you people…read morerate this school without either attending it or having a child attend it. You want to blast the school for having a policy which applies to ALL children. If you read more about this school, you find a near 95 percent African American student population. That means the other student have to follow the same rules, which the father should have known prior to enrollment. My children went to private school and I made sure to read the handbook prior to send them there
