I contacted Gene to do a bathroom remodel in my 1940's home. When Gene came to my home to quote us, it was very evident that Gene is not only well versed in home improvement, but also a very sincere person. Through the quoting process and throughout our renovation, Gene had a good understanding of what we wanted in regards to functionality, budget, and design. He unbiasedly answered our questions on choice of material, giving us the pros and cons for each scenario. This was important to me, because any contractor can just say "Yeah we can do that", and then quote up a storm or just do the work without considering if the homeowners understands the implications of their decisions. Gene made sure we knew exactly what we were signing up for, what the risks and what the benefits were for certain materials, and made suggestions to help us to stay within our stated budget. It is obvious in both the quality of his work and his personality that he wants to do right by the homeowner and leave them with a renovation that they love. When it came time to do the work, Gene brought his associate Kevin (who is also very personable and skilled) to help with the job. The two of them were able to demo my bathroom and remove all of the ugly blue tile on the walls and floor within a day. The next day, the plumber came to remove our tub, and then the real fun began. Gene and Kevin had the job done within the week, and during the process they were very respectful of our home, our pets, and our time. They showed up to work every day at 8AM, and left around 3 or 4 PM. I love the finished room, especially the floor tile; it feels like something out of a Spa now.... We found A Happy Home through a simple Google search and we'd like everyone to know just how excellent Gene and his team was to work with. We had them open up a wall separating our kitchen and living room to make the house feel more open and the job was treated with not just your basic care, but A Happy Home went above and beyond to make sure the job was done professionally and quickly. Gene made efforts to save us all the money we could throughout, whether that was suggesting we do the painting ourselves to moving the electrical wires hiding behind the plaster to staying late on the first day to make sure he could get the job done in two days to save us money avoiding a third day of work. Gene is an amazing contractor and person. We hired A Happy Home to complete the Sheetrock in my basement (over 500 square feet) and it looks amazing! Gene and Kevin worked a long 4 days starting right on time 8am and finishing after 5 every day. In addition to the excellent work, Gene also has an extreme attention to detail. He will spend the time each night to send me an email updating me on the progress of the work and if any problems were encountered.
