We got there in the afternoon and it was so nice to have something to chow down on (the yogurt was great and the chocolate-chocolate muffin GREAT). The walk to Windsor was fantastic, short walk. If you go I recommend the Windsor Castle tour, the Horse and Groom for AMAZING Chicken and Mushroom Pie (as well as perfect Pimms) and the Criterion Pub for a wonderful couple who own it, and an evening pint.

The en suite did not appear to have been cleaned for some time, with filthy limescale-encrusted shower and toilet and the previous occupant's used toiletries still in the room. He was also informed that breakfast was to be charged at £5 per day even though it clearly states on the home page of the website that this is included in the price. When he queried this the owner claimed that it was an old website" and no longer in use, even though the booking had been made and payment taken via that very site. All in all my son found Sussex Lodge to be sadly lacking in even basic cleanliness and care and consideration towards guests and would not recommend a stay there to anyone.

Well, there was; you could have paid 5 qui extra but it was just a "continental" one consisting of bread and such. No hot food. In England you're suppose to have a delicious, hot English breakfast with eggs and sausage and ham and baked beans and tomatoes and... The big draw was that it was not very expensive. It was the cheapest place to stay that I could find in Windsor, which is obviously is an expensive place to stay in. It is also just about a ten minute walk to the downtown shopping area, which is a bonus. There was also free parking on the premises. The hotel itself needs a lot of work though. The bed was pretty uncomfortable for a start. The room wasn't exactly clean either. There were the two of us and we only found one towel in the room. The sink wasn't much bigger than your favorite cereal bowl. The shower; well, the guy who did the tiles and grouting should have been fired on the spot. It was really messy and quite frankly you'd think they would re-do it right away based on the appearance. They did have a kettle and some tea bags and packs of Nescafe, but that was only for the first day/night. Not once in the 4 days did anybody come and leave more in the room. Nobody ever ame to the room, so the bed wasn't made, the garbage wasn't emptied, etc. On the positive side; there was a television and lots of channels were available. So overall, I would say this place would be good for a night or good if you don't care about the cleanliness and state of the room that you stay in. In hindsight, I should have paid a bit extra for a decent room.
