Love the staff! Hotel is clean. They provide rooms with basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel! Melia has a great breakfast buffet and a wonderful Spanish restaurant! Located close to public transit. Good location for walking or to catch the underground or bus to further distances. I wish I can give this hotel a 3.5/5 star rating. Unfortunately, there is no half star. Therefore, I give this place a 3. The rooms are super, super small! There was only about 12 inches between the end of the bed and the wall. There was no room for our suitcases except on the floor. We would take out what we needed and then zip it up and place in standing position. There is barely any sitting space in the room. Only sitting was done on the bed and a small stool. Bathroom is extremely small. No shower door or curtain to keep shower water from getting all over the bathroom floor and counter. Bathroom has only a sliding door. Rooms are fairly quiet. We were lucky to have quiet neighbors. Unfortunately, the outside street noise is loud if the room windows were open. We were on the 7th floor. There is a/c, but we like some fresh air in the room. City street noise was too loud. Once the widows were closed, it was super quiet. In conclusion, the staff went over and beyond for customer service! Wonderful staff! They even offered to pack breakfast for each member of our family since we're were leaving at 6:30am for the airport. Rooms are clean but extremely small. The shower area needs a better design to prevent water from leaking all over.

When I called to get some ice/wine glass, the person told me to come down and get it myself from the front desk, since they were busy. I went downstairs to pick up but he didn't leave anything at the front desk. Front desk staff was amazing and so were the housekeeping staff. Our room was cleaned every day without any reminder.

We booked a 7-night stay but had to cut our trip short due to a personal emergency. Despite informing the hotel, they outright refused to refund or adjust the charges for the unused 4 nights. Because we paid in advance through Expedia, they're now hiding behind red tape and finger-pointing between Taj and Expedia instead of showing a shred of decency or flexibility. Absolutely shameful. As for the hotel itself -- the service is abysmal. Staff are inattentive, unhelpful, and completely indifferent to guest concerns. The room quality is shockingly poor -- cramped, musty, and far below even basic expectations. The entire property reeks constantly of a strong, artificial jasmine oil that gives you a headache within minutes. It feels more like a run-down motel than a premium hotel. Taj should seriously reevaluate whether this property reflects its brand. This experience was not only a waste of money, but a complete betrayal of the trust one places in a globally reputed name. The location was excellent. In a short walk you could be at the Tower of London, Tower bridge, and a tube station. There's plenty of space out front for vehicles to pick you up or make deliveries. I think the reviewer that mentioned that the thermostat seemed like it was from the 1980s was being generous. It had five tiny buttons to control the temperature with absolutely no indication as to what those numbers did. What temperature will they make the room? Just take a guess! What really upset me and will prevent me from staying here again is one of their policies. I happened to check my email the day I was leaving the country. It was from the hotel stating they were not able to put a pre-authorization on my credit card of one pound (to prevent fraud) and that they would cancel my reservation in 24 hours if they did not hear from me. What happened was that when I made the reservation my card was still good but it was set to expire in a few months (right before my trip). So if I wouldn't have seen this email I would have shown up to the hotel and not had a room waiting for me. In a panic I called all three of the other hotels that I was going to stay at and they all said the same thing, which is that they would never cancel my reservation for something like this. One of those was also a Hilton, which owns Doubletree. So this DoubleTree policy is atrocious. My complaints were not addressed either. they just said it was their policy. There are so many ways this could have been handled better. They knew my expiration date when I made the reservation. They could have contacted me way before the reservation. They could have done a pre-authorization way before the reservation. Just so frustrating.

I got the chamber club double room, which was small (as I expected), but doable. I think it's a bit tight for a couple, so I'd look for a bigger room if you need the space. Overall, the room was quite clean and did the job. The bed wasn't the best, but I could live with it as I spent the bulk of my 2 days here walking around quite a ton. There is a bag stand, but there isn't as much space when you open it up. It may just be easier putting it on the floor. Just be mindful not to have those super big bags as it may make things a bit too tight. The bathroom was small, but it did the job for me. They have an enclosed shower, which is tight but helped ease any concerns of having a high tub or water spilling over with the half glass showers. Shower intensity was pretty good. The one cool thing is the heated tiles. I wish more hotels had that. I enjoyed it. Lot of lighting and plenty of areas to charge devices. As mentioned in another review, they'll need to replace those USB-A ports at some point. This place apparently has breakfast options, but I passed on that because I only was there two nights (Sunday, Monday) and was heading straight to Heathrow early Tuesday morning. I ended up getting a quick breakfast nearby. I did enjoy the refill of complimentary water. There's also an Indian restaurant attached, but I passed on it. I don't think this place is a 5 star hotel per Google, but it's a solid option.
