From what I have personally seen very recently, the dogs at Angier K9 have appeared cared for, active, and engaged. I've also seen the amount of work being put into training, cleaning, structure, and communication. They also continue to work alongside local rescues and receive referrals from them. No kennel or training environment is perfect, and dogs can absolutely experience stress, weight changes, stomach issues, or adjustment periods during boarding and training. These things can happen in many types of facilities, especially in environments involving routine changes, increased activity, and time away from home. I also think there is a difference between poor communication, unmet expectations, business disputes, and actual abuse. That is a very serious accusation and I believe it's important for people to look at the full picture, ask questions, tour facilities, and make decisions based on direct observation and their own experience rather than assuming everything written online is automatically proven fact. They have been fined multiple times. The police have gone on the property because they would not return a dog. they block people on Facebook because they are too scared to own up to mistakes. they have a new detectives on the case and we now have over 25 people willing to speak to the news. Christian and his business have shown multiple red flags that make me believe this operation is not legitimate or trustworthy. He does not appear to hold any valid professional certifications, and neither do his trainers. When I reached out by email requesting proof of certifications, they only sent pictures of the facility where the dogs would be staying, but did not provide any documentation or credentials. My dog was originally scheduled to be picked up on January 4, but after I attempted to cancel and request a refund, I never received a clear confirmation of cancellation. When I followed up, Christian did not respond to me for nearly a month. Despite this lack of communication, they continued to describe themselves as highly qualified and professional, but their actions do not reflect that. What ultimately made me decide to cancel was a video I saw of a trainer yanking a very small dog and forcefully making the dog sit. It was extremely upsetting to watch, and I do not want my dog exposed to any training methods that could cause fear, stress, or trauma. Additionally, their waiver contains several serious concerns. It appears to be written in a way that removes almost all responsibility from them, including statements that they cannot be held liable even in extreme situations. It also suggests that a dog could become aggressive after training, which raises major concerns about the methods being used and whether dogs are being trained through fear or intimidation. Another major issue is their deposit policy. Once you pay any amount toward a deposit, it seems you will not get it back, even if services are not provided as expected. Their lack of professionalism, poor communication, and refusal to provide proper documentation makes this business feel shady and untrustworthy. For these reasons, I strongly feel the Better Business Bureau (BBB) should be made aware and investigate this company. Also their actual website and app shows that they were permanently closed, which is kind of shady because they started getting multiple bad reviews with the similar situation and all of a sudden it said they were permanently closed. -updating my review to discuss the recents changes at Angier K9: Angier k9 (run by Christian Scharphorn & Kelton Azuara-Walker) have only just recently made changes to their "backyard" "training". These changes were only made because they have had 2 lawsuits and at least one dog death, have been investigated by animal control and were told they were not taking care of the dogs properly, and as many as 15-20 dogs/owners have had their dogs returned very sick and injured and NOT trained! -They are acting as if these new changes have always been put in place. -Dog owners are now speaking out publicly because individually we were made to feel like our dogs were the only one this happened to. This is NOT just a little weight loss or stress due to the environment. I have not found any other "board and training" with as many complaints as this place. -They left our dogs in an outdoor cage for 6 weeks when we were told they would be inside when not being directly trained. -Everything you see in their recents video was NOT there before this month (5/2026) and they have been running this sketchy business for several years! -They are still lying in their videos saying they have "kennel technicians" working 12-14 hours a taking care of your dog in these new outdoor kennels but yet they do not show the technicians? -If Christian & Kelton can show me proof that my dogs slept inside, or was kept in something like they are now showing in the "new videos".....I want to see it. I want to see video of them being "trained". My dogs already knew all the basics and didn't learn anything new! -Shouldn't they have tons of videos and pictures like they claim they send to the owners of my dogs too? I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment, frustration, and concern regarding my recent experience with your company. What I expected to be a professional and positive investment in the training of our beloved family dog, Blue, quickly turned into the most disheartening and stressful experience I have encountered with any business. At the beginning of the process, communication was promising. I coordinated the admission with Christian Scharphorn, and everything seemed organized. However, once payment was made and Blue was picked up, everything drastically changed. If I didn't take the initiative to write or follow up, I received no updates. Over the course of more than a month, I only received one photo and one video, and only through your app. That lack of transparency and communication was incredibly unprofessional. When the date for Blue's return home approached, I received no call, no message, and no confirmation. I reached out multiple times--through texts and repeated phone calls--which went unanswered. After many attempts, I finally received a message informing me of a new return date. However, on that day, the delivery was suddenly canceled. At this point, I feared the worst--I genuinely believed my dog had been stolen. Eventually, I was given another return date and location. After driving to the designated spot, I was left waiting for two hours, with no communication whatsoever. I had to message your team multiple times on Facebook before receiving any sort of response. During that long and anxious wait, the thought of calling the police crossed my mind due to the complete lack of professionalism and communication. When I finally received Blue, she was dirty, with brown paws (despite being a white dog) and missing her vest with her name, which she had when we entrusted her to you. She was returned to me by Kelton, who apologized and appeared genuinely sorry for the situation. However, the damage was done. My expectations were shattered. To this date, I have not received any response or resolution regarding the missing vest. This experience was not only disappointing--it was unacceptable. The entire purpose of this training program was to build upon her previous basic training so that she could better serve as a companion in our home, particularly with my daughter who has cerebral palsy and my son who is autistic. Blue is not just a dog--she is family. And the way this situation was handled showed a lack of respect, care, and professionalism. Furthermore, after evaluating Blue's behavior upon her return, we have observed no significant improvement in the areas for which she was enrolled in this program. In fact, her behavior has worsened--she returned even more unruly, began relieving herself inside the house (something she never did before), and started rummaging through the trash, another behavior she did not have prior to the training. This has been deeply disappointing for my family and me, especially considering that we invested in this training with the expectation of seeing meaningful results. Given the entirety of this experience, I can confidently say that I would not personally recommend Angier K9 Consultants to a family member or even an acquaintance. On 12/1/25 my dog went to training with Angier K-9 Consultants. I was hopeful that I would see progress. I filled out the forms from the link sent to me which included problem areas that I wanted them to work on with my dog. The expectation was that they would provide videos to show progress and let us know how our dogs were doing. I kept looking on facebook and on Instagram and while I saw postings of other dogs, there was no videos in sight of my dog and his progress. On 12/18/25 I reached out to Christian to follow up on my dog's progress and how he has been doing. Christian's response was that he was doing great and that there SHOULD have been a couple videos posted. He advised to let him check and see if they had been tagged correctly. I had been looking daily and know there hadn't been videos of my dog. There was one video of another dog's progress where he made a cameo at the Home Depot. However, this was not an update regarding my dog. On 12/21/25 I reached back out to Christian and advised I have yet to see any updates on my dog asked if he could at the very least text me the videos if for some reason, he hadn't been able to post. Christian never responded. On 12/26/25 I finally saw a video of my dog and the update I see is that my dog is tired. This was 25 days after he went to training and I finally see a video that tells me nothing. On 12/31/25 I see another video and the video shows my dog being told to sit which he did (he did this prior to training as well btw) and then 5 seconds later he moves his head like he is getting ready to move and the trainer saying "break" and he starts running. If my dog would have sat there for a minute, then maybe that would have been impressive. The word that was used is here for him to come. If you know my dog though if you say something and he thinks you are talking to him, he will come. The day of pickup I met the trainer at the Angier park. Right away I notice my dog jumping. The trainer makes the comment that he thinks my dog is one of the best dogs he has worked with and how he likes how my dog gives hugs. He jumped on me to give me a "hug". I made the comment about how one of the things they were supposed to be working on was the jumping as I have a niece who is 4yrs old and I don't want him jumping on her. The trainer responds with oh well it's an easy fix and gives me a couple of so-called tips to resolve the jumping. My dog was there for over a month; why was this not done while he was in training. When he was showing me what my dog had supposedly learned while in training, he would use a command, but my dog was supposedly too distracted to do it the way he was "taught". My dog stunk like I had never smelled a dog stink before. He had matted hair behind his ears. I made a comment about how bad he smelled and the trainer's first response was that they aren't a groomer. I wasn't expecting my dog to be groomed but periodic cleanliness would have been nice especially before I pick him up and put him in my car. The first thing I did when I got him home was give him a bath. Guess what; I am not a groomer either, but he was clean. I made an appointment for a groomer to be able to work on the matted hair. He has never had matted hair before. The trainer was very nice, but I don't think he actually trained my dog in the way that it should have been done. Everything my dog did before he still does. He sits like he always did but he doesn't wait for me to say break. The "Here" command hasn't really worked either. My dog went to training for 1 month and the only commands that they worked on were Sit, Break, Here, and Heel. The kicker is that at the end when I went to leave, I noticed my dog was missing his harness and his favorite ball. One of the trainers went back to the kennel area to find the harness and the ball. He returned with the harness, but the ball was missing. Both trainers that were in the park said for me to send the amazon link to Christian and he would have the ball replaced. I messaged Christian that evening and advised what the trainers stated. I am still waiting on a response. I went back through on fb to look at additional reviews to see if anyone had a similar experience. There was a post on 12/8/25 from someone who posted a comment that they thought their dog had been kidnapped as they received zero updates and not a single request of theirs was met. I went through service dog training for six months prior to him going there. Just wanted to add a few things and sharpen a few things. He came back and he barks all the time now. Jumps on the door when people come instead of going to his place like he used too. He will not do any of the things I asked about and I'm struggling to get him back where he was. Sadly, we had similar experiences as Derek R. Christian made a lot of empty promises, but once he got my money, he went completely MIA. We received absolutely no updates for 7 weeks. I thought they kidnapped my dog. Angier K9 is more interested in their social media game than training. In fact, there was no behavioral correcting, whatsoever. My dog received overpriced doggie daycare, rather than professional training. He learned absolutely nothing new, and his behavior is now worse than when we dropped him off. Christian promised he would cater his program to the individual needs of our dog. I didn't ask for anything out of the ordinary, yet not a single one of our simple requests were met. The handover was awkward and noneducational. We found out that our dog was trained by a brand new employee. Christian, per usual, was nowhere to be found. He took our money, didn't provide any worthwhile service, never offered any kind of refund, and never fulfilled his professional obligations. I do not recommend Angier K9, unless you know nothing about training and have an extra $3,000 lying around to burn. read more
