Tomorrow will be a week since I walked victorious (that is, with full legal custody of my daughter from her unreliable mother) out of Wake County civil court with attorney LYNN PRATHER and not half of a day has gone by that my family and I haven't prattled our praise amongst each other and to friends for her EXPERT WORK on my case. And so I've felt personally compelled to not allow another day go by without publically expressing my gratitude to her (Thanks again Lynn!) or to risk a potential client in a situation similar to mine be one review short of coming across the name of a lawyer who seems to excel in the practice of family law.
Feeling underwhelmed and hopeless after contacting/meeting a few other attorneys in as many weeks within a 60 mile radius, I was referred to Lynn Prather at Kurtz & Blum by a regular at my mom's restaurant. Her strong commendation convinced me to give the legal route another shot, I called the firm for an appointment and was SWIFTLY brought in for a consultation (the next business day), less than half-way through which I was thrilled to realize that the hard part was over, I had found the PATIENT, EMPATHETIC, AND EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE attorney I was beginning to think didn't exist, the one I was ready to HIRE WITH THE UTMOST CONFIDENCE in helping me fight for the most important thing in my life, my daughter. Before I left that initial consultation, Lynn was able to assure me that we'd have a great case in pursuing custody ( in stark contrast to the other lawyers too intimidated to even try to represent a father pursuing custody knowing the system is usually so biasedly in favor of mothers) and was able to lay out for me the solid course of action she'd begin working on immediately. And that's exactly what she did, organize the information she learned from that consultation to file with/present to the county/judge in such a professional way that within a couple days, I was granted full emergency custody of my child for the next week until our court date/the hearing vs my daughter's mom that would determine her long-term placement. During that week, I was always ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH LYNN with any questions /concerns I had regarding the upcoming hearing, and likewise she would contact me whenever she had updates/information to share, proving throughout how PERSONAL, THOROUGH, AND HARD-WORKING she is. She met me the morning of the court date calm, CONFIDENT AND PRECISELY PREPARED only for the opposing party to postpone another week. Before leaving the courthouse that day, she successfully got approved a second order of emergency custody for me to ensure the stability of my daughter another week. Then rather than store away her files on my case and take a break from me for the 7 days, she continued to stay in regular touch with not only me, but also my mother and sister, who were sending her eye-witness accounts and photo-evidence further supporting our end of the custody case. Lynn took the time to read through every little thing they sent, extracting the things she found most useful up until the evening before our second court date. A few hours later though, she gave me a phone call announcing that she had spoken with the opposing party, my daughter's mother, and EFFECTIVELY CONVINCED her to agree to each and every term in a Consent Order that Lynn and I discussed and drafted on day one, without compromising my interests at all. Of course Lynn arrived early to court again the next morning, entirely prepared to represent me should the opposing party decide last minute to back out of the agreement, which luckily she didn't and Lynn got us before a judge to quickly sign the official form, essentially granting me the full custody plus the other terms that were almost equally as important (supervised visits with her mother, mandatory drug screening, mental health evaluation etc).
With Lynn Prather's dedication, expert knowledge of the system, instincts, attention to detail and just plain-old hard-to-find hard-work, she has honestly changed the lives of my daughter, my concerned family, and me in a gigantic and positive way and we're all beyond thankful. read more
