The place is located right where all the tourist activities start on the outskirts of the old town. Restaurant is large, with variety of tables and booth spread out all over the place. I was in the mood for the dark beer, so first I had Cake Cartel Porter which was amazing, and next I had Alice Porter which was excellent but a lot more dry than the first one, so it would be better to drink them in the reverse order. Before I talk about food I need to talk about service. This is where Brewdog instantly loses all the points. I got my first beer quickly, but then nobody was coming to get the next beer or order food. Waitstaff doesn't wear any specific uniforms so it is impossible to even wave at someone. Finally I got someone to stop by and orders second beer and the burger. Whomever took my order didn't even care to explain that the burger would come without any fries or any side. The burger was tasty, but the overall experience was definitely subpar thanks to the dismal service. This place is still recommended (good beers), but maybe just sit at the bar...

We…read moreinitially stopped here to begin a night of pub hopping because of its proximity to the Marriott, but ended up staying for several hours and returning each night throughout our stay in brussels. The service was great, they take credit cards with chips, and the selection/prices were unbeatable. The interior is cozy and classic, with a large buffalo head perched above the bar. While bar service is only downstairs on slow nights, I highly recommend sitting upstairs where there are several small tables with benches hanging from the wall. The tables overlook the bar area below. Contrary to a previous review, while the music and atmosphere can become loud on the weekends, we never had an issue hearing each other in conversation. They played great music throughout the night. Overall, cafe Bizon is highly highly recommended as one of my favorite bars visited throughout my travels. Great beer, great prices, great people, great music, great interior, and overall great time.

When we sat at the bar, we noticed a beer tour taking place right behind us. I'm guessing it's a stop on a beer crawl of some sorts. They were only there for about 20 minutes and after they left, we were the only ones there! We each had a glass of wine and chatted a bit with our wondeful bartender. After checking in on Yelp, I got an offer for a Lillet cocktail on the house. I had never had one before, but after a little explanation, I opted for the simplest. And boy are they delicious! During our visit, we made note of the great music playing. Our bartender overheard us and wrote down the name of a free radio station they always have on. Radio Meuh if anyone is interested. The seating is intimate and the lighting is low sometimes especially in the night but it's the perfect place to relax with some delicious beers on tap or in the bottle. They serve Archel and Orval here as well as Westmalle for trappist beers as well as a huge variety of other Belgium delights. Apparently in Europe, people don't tip!

But cafe's in Brussels are a dime a dozen. What sets La Brocante apart (aside from having some of the best people watching in town), is one of the best selections of Gueuze and lambic beers in town; some 30 by my last count with the likes of Cantillon, Hansens, 3 Fonteinen and Tilquin. If lambics aren't your thing, they have another 70 or so Belgian bottled beers, including running the gamut from pilsner to imperial stout. If that was not enough to make you want to stop by, they also have a great outdoor seating area next to a fountain that serves as a venue for impromptu weekend concerts as well as some of the best people watching in town. Food is your typical Belgian cafe stuff: pasta, omelettes, sandwiches, and carbonade, but well prepared and in large portions. On the downside, because of the early opening hours, they close rather early, usually between 6 and 7pm, depending on the whims of the staff, And note: it's cash only.
