They only start serving beer at 5 PM the sign said, but we walked in at 4:00 pm and there were plenty of folks already enjoying some beers. The seating is intimate and the lighting is low sometimes especially in the night but it's the perfect place to relax with some delicious beers on tap or in the bottle. They serve Archel and Orval here as well as Westmalle for trappist beers as well as a huge variety of other Belgium delights. Apparently in Europe, people don't tip!

I liked the batter they used for my fish. It was crunchy and slightly on the thicker side. The fish was seasoned well. The chips were also good, but nothing to write home about. I did, however, really like the bangers. It was steamed in beer I believe and had a really good flavor. Definitely a good place to go if you just want to chill with a cold one and some decent food.

The service was great, they take credit cards with chips, and the selection/prices were unbeatable. The interior is cozy and classic, with a large buffalo head perched above the bar. While bar service is only downstairs on slow nights, I highly recommend sitting upstairs where there are several small tables with benches hanging from the wall. The tables overlook the bar area below. Contrary to a previous review, while the music and atmosphere can become loud on the weekends, we never had an issue hearing each other in conversation. They played great music throughout the night. Overall, cafe Bizon is highly highly recommended as one of my favorite bars visited throughout my travels. But cafe's in Brussels are a dime a dozen. What sets La Brocante apart (aside from having some of the best people watching in town), is one of the best selections of Gueuze and lambic beers in town; some 30 by my last count with the likes of Cantillon, Hansens, 3 Fonteinen and Tilquin. If lambics aren't your thing, they have another 70 or so Belgian bottled beers, including running the gamut from pilsner to imperial stout. If that was not enough to make you want to stop by, they also have a great outdoor seating area next to a fountain that serves as a venue for impromptu weekend concerts as well as some of the best people watching in town. Food is your typical Belgian cafe stuff: pasta, omelettes, sandwiches, and carbonade, but well prepared and in large portions. On the downside, because of the early opening hours, they close rather early, usually between 6 and 7pm, depending on the whims of the staff, And note: it's cash only.
