My son comes home dirty nearly everyday. Class size for pre K is 18, but the after school kids come there as well, and easily fill up one of the rooms with 50 kids of all ages! They try and economize on the air conditioning, so at times it is very hot. It is a small place, with only two rooms, no windows and really no place for the kids to go. Out back is some run down equipment for the kids to play on in two fenced in areas that feel more like pigs pens than play grounds. The owner is dishonest and inadvertently tried to charge my credit cards $360 when I authorize him to take out $120 (one week) and then says to me "it got declined." I didn't understand why until I checked with my bank. I called him back and asked if he was aware how much he charged, and he said he wasn't, that it was an accident.... Seriously? How do you punch in numbers and not know what they are? We got behind a week with payments, and every week I get the daughter and now her father (owner), pressing me to make the payment immediately as if they were going to go out of business without an additional payment. (His actual words!) But, each week we continue to make payments and catch up. They even charged me for one week that my son wasn't even there. The school was actually out for one day due to icy conditions, and though the rest of the week they were open, the weather was still extreme. We kept him out due to illness and the icy weather. My fault I guess, because I didn't notice that is how they operate their business. If it weren't for the nice teachers & helpers, I wouldn't even think about this place. Beyond dealing with management, the place feels dangerous because of how close it is to the highway, with minimal guarded protection & security, and a fire hazard with few exits, being over crowded daily.

This rating does not reflect the front desk staff or the wonderful teachers who cared for my son…read more The one-star review is solely due to safety and transparency concerns, specifically the owner's unwillingness to make reasonable safety improvements despite multiple incidents. In December 2023, my son fell into a fence on the playground and sustained a severe injury to his forehead. This resulted in an expensive and traumatic emergency room visit, two layers of stitches (13 total), and a permanent scar. Responsibility was placed on teachers for failing to enforce "no-run zones." This is unreasonable; the playground is small, and children need to run. I do not fault the teachers in any way. Before making the difficult decision to remove our son, we attempted to work collaboratively with the owners to improve safety. We suggested modest, common-sense measures, including padding rough stone edges. Once the state investigated and determined the playground was technically compliant with regulations, it became clear the owners were unwilling to take any additional steps. We were explicitly told, "You have a choice where to send your son to school." Since that incident, I have learned of several other playground injuries, including at least one other child who, like my son, was left with a permanent scar. Hence, this prompted my review and so parents can make informed choices. I also want to note transparency issues that further eroded trust. When communicable illnesses occurred, communication was often limited to paper signs posted near classrooms; many parents missed them. The ProCare app, designed for timely communication, was not used. This was particularly frustrating during a lice outbreak. (Lice happens; I do not blame the school for that.) However, most parents learned about it through informal parent text chains rather than official communication. Thus, when deciding where to send your child to school, I would be sure to note the playground's size, stone edges, and lack of padding. I would also ask about the owners' resistance to implementing preventive measures after serious injuries occurred.

She listened to our concerns and provided us with an official start date, which was a relief. From the moment we dropped off our little girl at Primrose Westlake, we felt we had returned to the nurturing environment that Primrose is known for. The teachers and directors genuinely care about the children; they're enthusiastic about their work and keep us updated on our daughter's progress. They truly go above and beyond to ensure that the kids are happy, learning in a fun atmosphere, enjoying nutritious meals, and feeling loved. When choosing a school, always trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is. Thanks to Primrose Westlake, she has blossomed into a whole new happy little girl.

Since being sold to Premier (corporate), everything has gone downhill fast. The sense of community, respect, and care that once made this place special is completely gone. After our original director -- who was well-liked by families and at least stood up for staff -- left, things fell apart. The interim director has no backbone and seems terrified of corporate, so staff have zero protection or support. Teachers are leaving in droves, parents are pulling their children, and the quality of care has plummeted. The center is consistently short-staffed and out of ratio, leaving too many kids in one room. Potty breaks are delayed for over an hour, and children with fevers aren't sent home promptly, which led to constant illness spreading through classrooms. Staff are punished for calling out sick but also scolded for coming in sick -- it's lose-lose. Even more concerning, there have been multiple state investigations, and every time inspectors come, they leave with several new complaints or open cases. Teachers have even reported other teachers to the state. People are being fired over personal social media posts or unverified rumors, while genuinely unsafe conditions go unchecked. Violent children are not removed or separated, putting both teachers and other students at risk. It got so bad that the school had to send a letter to parents asking them to keep their kids home because there wasn't enough staff to cover classrooms. That says it all. This center is run poorly, managed worse, and absolutely not the safe, nurturing environment it used to be. I would never recommend it to any parent or teacher until there are serious changes in leadership and accountability.

If your serious about the early development of your child and are considering private over public school.... this is your best choice in the area. Nice facility, plenty of bells and whistles, very strong focus on learning. Weekly programs for music, spanish and athletics. We took advantage of onsite haircuts and drycleaning dropoff/pickup. We had issues with some of the teachers a few times and teacher turnover happens but your gonna find that everywhere. Another review mentioned the owners are focused on profit. I never saw that, they are there every day running the school and planning things. When you talk they normally listen. I will say that I do hope they are profitable. I mean this is your child's school... You want them to have the means to provide a good environment and stick around. Tuition is fair, I mean you get what you pay for. We moved from Denton County to Williamson County and the rates down here make GPA look like a bargain. We are paying an extra $45/week now. We will be moving back into the area early next year and we plan to buy a house near the school so our son and his soon to be born little brother can attend GPA. Take that for what its worth. We have also referred a few friends and they all like the school and their kids are still enrolled.

As parents, we did not feel the concerns were handled with the seriousness or urgency they deserved. Following our withdrawal, Guidepost Montessori confirmed in writing that we were owed a refund totaling $2,156, including deposits and an overpayment. We were told a refund check had been requested. Unfortunately, nearly four months passed without receiving any refund, despite repeated follow-ups. We contacted school administration, regional management, and were later informed that refunds were being handled by a new entity after a change in ownership. Even after being redirected and providing all documentation again, we received no payment and no response for an extended period of time. The lack of accountability, communication, and professionalism--especially after concerns related to our child's well-being--has been extremely disappointing and stressful for our family. A school that promotes trust, care, and Montessori values should demonstrate the same responsibility in how it treats families, both emotionally and financially. I strongly encourage prospective families to ask very detailed questions about administration stability, classroom oversight, and refund policies before enrolling.
