Everyone working at A New Leaf is so sweet! I always walk by and love seeing all the flowers they have on display outside. It truly brightens up downtown! I decided to buy some sunflowers for my kitchen table. They are $3/each, which I know I could get cheaper somewhere else, but we're about supporting local here. The woman offered to add some greenery to it, which she didn't charge me for, and beautifully wrapped them up for me, with a ribbon! It was such a sweet touch and really shows how they appreciate flowers and plants here. The sunflowers wrapped up were so cute I didn't want to unwrap them to put them in water! Celebrating our 19th anniversary in separate cities, my husband could not find a florist who was able to deliver. When I called I had no idea what exactly to ask for, but the lady I spoke with was so kind, patient, and helpful. She helped to guide me in the exact direction we had in mind, an easel with a gorgeous spray of blue, yellow, and white flowers. She asked about the funeral home, but i only knew the name of the church. She said she would make some calls and our arrangement was on display the night before, all because of the lady that went the extra mile. It was much more beautiful than we even could have hoped. When my sister started her last and greatest adventure this October the funeral home we chose recommended a florist that I wasn't very impressed with so I brought up YELP and found A New Leaf Flower Shoppe. I chose them based on reviews and photos and I am so glad that I did! I told Trish that my sisters favorite flower is a Sterling Rose, her favorite color is purple, and I wanted something to sit around her cremation box at the service. A New Leaf contacted the funeral home for a photo of the stained glass box and proceeded to create the most perfect & beautiful wreath arrangement I've ever seen. Not even remotely funereal, which my sister would have loved and appreciated. I also asked for small plants and succulents for attendees to take home and New Leaf provided a great variety of healthy, glossy plants and they were exactly what I had in mind. Trish and her employees made a hard task very easy and they were kind and sympathetic, my sisters friend thought the wreath beautiful and loved the plants, and the price was half of what I would've paid elsewhere. (For gauging the size of the wreath the dimensions of her urn are: Height: 5.8", Width: 9.8", Depth: 7.9". Whenever I need a bouquet, I go here. I tell them my budget and specific requests/preferences, if any, and they always make a beautiful bouquet. They listen to you and do everything they can to make it a great experience. It's not easy to find a local florist like this any more. I often bring a bouquet on an airplane. They pick flowers that are not too fragile, make it smaller, and even teach me how to wrap it again when I have to put the flowers in a vase until I leave for the airport. I stopped by here last week to get another bouquet for an airplane ride. I spoke with them several minutes, and they convinced me to pick up a bouquet at my destination because it was too hot. So, it's clear to me that they care about the customers rather than just making sales. On top of it, their prices are very reasonable. This last week I contact this local business in Bellingham to order a flower arrangement for my daughter's birthday. Let's talk customer service: While I originally wanted the flowers delivered to my daughter's apartment, they were unable to get in, instead of giving up they called me and when I told them she was at work, they offered to deliver the arrangement to her at work. That is customer service. Secondly, I happened to be where my daughter works as we decided to surprise her at work with a gift back and where able to see the arrangement they prepare, needless to say, absolutely amazing. My son and daughter-in-law sent me flowers for Christmas. It was and is still the most beautiful arrangement I've ever seen. It was delivered to me all the way out in Sudden Valley. It's now a week old and still as fresh as the day it was delivered. Four of the lilies have opened to their spectacular fullness. Tulips, snapdragons are all opening. It's like a new gorgeous bouquet every day because the flowers are opening slowly and in sequence. There are still two more lilies waiting to open. When I reported to my d-i-l how incredibly beautiful these flowers are, she said the "lady" she spoke to on the phone was really "nice". Arrangements for wedding included flowers from three different sources around Bellingham. A New Leaf was the only one claiming to be full time full service florist. Both of the others were Floral department of food/ merchandise stores. The bill from New Leaf was highest, the flowers, least satisfactory, limp and far from fresh. We contacted New Leaf, spoke with one of the clerks, but the promise of a return call from the owner never happened. Situation is particularly disappointing, since New Leaf was recommended. They have very lovely plants and can often do a wonderful bouquet but it's quite clear that they are more interested in big orders for weddings or events then they are in taking care of small individual orders. A bouquet here can be quite expensive and when they are completely out of anything lovely they will still try and push something kind of sad and ugly, rather than just admiring that they cannot help you. I think, too, that if you don't share the taste of the proprietor then you are pretty much going to get something you don't like or get something ugly since she thinks you have no taste at all. read more

I had a perfect customer experience at A New Leaf. I was surprised to find out it was a friends birthday and I was meeting her for dinner that evening after work. Luckily, A New Leaf is located downtown, and they're open until 5:30pm so I was able to swoop in here between work and dinner. JQ's is clearly the best in Bellingham for a "bunch" on the go. You cannot beat the location, staff, or selection. The owner has turned the tiny and awkward space into a user friendly shop complete with by-the-stem buckets or a willing staff ready to take your order and deliver a giant JQ creation---usually within the same day. The PRICES are crazy cheap, the final product is super classy and clean. Need flowers that say: "Sorry I slept with your best friend." or "I was dumb, I was drunk, let me beg forgiveness over chocolate fondue at my place?" Then....JQ's is for you.
