What a great time! Neil was friendly and welcoming. He explained safety protocols and we were on our way. We told him what our interests were and he delivered. He's very knowledgeable and went out of his way to make sure we had a full range of experiences from whale watching to birding and just getting a good overall view and education about Sitka. Highly recommend!! read more

Went out with Neil today for a beautiful afternoon of wildlife viewing in Sitka. After doing some whale watching in Seward on a large boat, we wanted a smaller boat with a more personal experience, and Neil was just what we were looking for, with plenty of knowledge of all the wildlife we encountered. Saw too many humpbacks to count, including a lunge/breach probably less than 20 feet from the boat. Not to mention a tour around st. Lazaria island to see all the birdlife there. Neil's boat is plenty comfortable, with a toilet if needed and snacks and drinks (we had some hot cocoa to warm up). Why go out on a huge boat with a ton of people when you can get a far more intimate experience like this? Highly recommend read more

From 8/6/2019: My wife and I and 2 adult kids enjoyed a wonderful 3 hours on the water with Neil (owner) and Leone (spelling?) who was an extremely knowledgeable Naturalist by education. We took in whales, otters, sea lions and a variety of birds. We were fortunate to have two adult humpback whales approach within 10 feet of the vessel. We probably saw 15 different whales from varying distances. The hosts were extremely personable and just the non-commercialized experience we were seeking. read more

Sitka's premier small group (max 6) wildlife and birding expedition company, offering 3 or 4-hour cruises and our signature 3-day Marine Wildlife and Whale Photography Expeditions. Our naturalists led cruises are designed to enhance your awareness of whales, other marine life and the marine habitat that surrounds us while you listen to the whale's songs and calls from our amplified hydrophone and state of the art sound system.

Established in 2016.

I was inspired by a seminar given by Dr, Jim Darling a leading research scientist studying the song of humpback whales. We know that giving people a chance to experience first hand the magnificent species here in Sitka it will serve to inspire people to help preserve and protect them.

Meet the Business Owner: Neil M.

Clients find themselves inspired by his child-like inquisitiveness! From an early age, Neil sought out knowledge of wild things through books, television and just rolling around in the dirt. He watched every Jacque Cousteau special and became passionate about marine mammals, especially whales. To this day, Neil continues to expand his knowledge, attending conferences and visiting with leading whale scientists and scholars not only seeking the most up-to-date information but also assisting in the collection of research data. He is currently enrolled in the University of Alaska's Master Naturalist Program and holds a Coast Guard 25GT Masters License with First Aid and CPR certification.
