I'm afraid I didn't manage to get the exact address down and there is no sign of this place online at all, but that doesn't mean it is not worth a visit.
(It is on Meanwood Road, LS7, just before the turning onto Sackville Street)
This shop looks very old fashioned, the front hasn't seen a lick of paint for years and as a result is looking somewhat dehydrated. The writing above the door outside is legible but faded and the narrow doorway looks like a bit of a mission to get though.
I expected a comedy scene from Steptoe and Son to commence right in front of my eyes, but unfortunately not.
The shop was filled with various bits of home ware, mostly second hand, but the thing that struck me the most was the massive amount of lamps and shades. They were everywhere! Lampshades of all shapes, colours and sizes huddled together on top of dishwashers and microwaves as if they were having a little 'lamps only' party.
The layout is extremely overflowing with various stuff, but the prices are a huge amount cheaper than if you went to a chain home wear store.
If, like me, you like quirky little places that make you feel like you've gone back in time, you would probably enjoy a little rummage in this somewhat chaotic cave.
They also buy unwanted items if you have anything lurking about. Maybe not another lampshade though, I think they have enough. read more
