I wandered into the World of Beads the other day because a sparkle caught my eye. I tend to get distracted by sparkles and I wandered into one big store full of distractions. My boyfriend said, "I'm going to wait outside". The store is filled to the brim with beads. Beads of every size, every color, and every style. I especially liked the Swarovski crystal beads because they were extra sparkly! I think they put these beads near the window to draw people in and I guess it must have worked! The counter in the middle of the store has all of the hooks and clasps you need to make your own jewelry. They also carry a large amount of twine, wire, and any other type of string you could need. Paula somehow became the lead picture on A World of Beads's opening picture, and dammit, she deserves it! I wasn't keen on coming to A World of Beads originally. I don't consider myself a creative being nor do I find something like making my own jewelry pleasurable. I wasn't a child that owned the bead making machine and I sure as hell didn't grow up just to do the exact same thing. However, my friend insisted that we come here because she found it relaxing and fun. The store itself itself is impressive. There's a large amount of beads from all of the world on display, all ready for you to make the next piece of jewelry of your dreams. It's overwhelming for someone who had no initial desire to make something. Luckily, the family running the operation are more than happy to assist you in finding the perfect project. My friend and I made basic bracelets. They pretty much set you up for success, starting with measuring your wrist for the perfect length bracelet and giving you all the possible bead options to choose from. After that comes what I believed would be the most difficult part: putting the beads onto the string. I think I have decently good hand eye coordination, but the idea of taking a tiny bead and looping it with a tiny string didn't seem like something I'd do easily or well. However, the process went much smoother than I thought it would. I ended up with a blue bracelet and red Christmas tree shaped beads intertwined. At first, I wasn't a huge fan because in my head it looked like something a child would put together in their spare time. I've warmed up to it and I honestly wear it everyday along with a few other bracelets that I've received from various places. The customer service at A World of Beads was amazing. They're all passionate and knowledgeable about the product they're selling. Considering I do not have these qualities in DIY jewelry, it was comforting to know that the people working genuinely cared about my entry into their jewelry world. Zach was particularly helpful in the whole process and very entertaining to talk too. I learned a lot about all the services they have to offer. In addition to the walk-in make your own jewelry, they offer party packages. They're all BYOB too so it's not just for kids; they host showers, bachelorette parties, basically everyone! I'd be surprised if this wasn't on the top of someone's list to add to their festivities if they knew it was an option. Also, they can do same day jewelry fixing/cleaning. I was told of multiple times where they were able to save someone's wedding day by fixing a necklace, tiara, etc. In the words of my favorite eccentric Food Network host Guy Fieri, sometimes you have to slow down and take a look around. Great selection of beads and supplies. Prices are a little bit more than what I expected but perhaps this is because of their location in Hyde Park? In any case, the saturday afternoon we went in, there was only one person working and several customers. It was clear the sales associate was stressed and she was short with us and simply said, "no, we dont carry that." instead of trying to find an alternative to what we were looking for. By the time we wandered around long enough to try and find an alternative, a second sales person came in and helped us with our necklace. She even replaced the part for us but seemed a little put out to do so. We would probably go back if we don't find another bead store in the mean time but the service here is so-so. read more

World of Beads is amazing... and dangerous. I could spend so much money on beads! I took my niece here for an outing, and we had the best time traipsing around the store choosing beads. When we were done, the staff built a bracelet for her. I'm pretty crafty, but I'm not interested in buying the needed supplies for jewelry-making. It's so much easier to let them do it for you. I highly recommend World of Beads for a girls' outing, like a birthday party. In our experience, the staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

I had no idea that so many colors, variations, and types of beads actually existed...but now I do! World of Beads offers birthday parties for little girls in "friendship bracelet" stages but the store also sells high-quality glass and Swarovski crystal beads for wedding dresses/veils/jewelry, or other decorative purposes. Store associates are friendly and passionate about jewelry making, they offer many classes centered around bridal jewelry, prom jewelry, and Swarovski workshops. I love World of Beads! I've only dabbled with making jewelry a few times and both times World of Beads was extremely helpful in making sure I was squared away. I used to live near World of Beads and frequently would browse the store for ideas and inspiration. Recently I needed help making some necklaces for Christmas presents and my local bead store in North Dakota was uninterested in helping me or answer my questions. I contacted World of Beads and they went above and beyond to assist me. They were able to help me figure out exactly what I needed and ship it to my house in a matter of days. The service was exceptional and the quality of everything received was exquisite. I am so grateful for their help! read more

I was very impressed with this place's selection as everything was higher end than most of the bead stores I normally go to. If you have a thing for round mineral beads, this place is full of them, as well as other things. I learned, while in there and watching other people come in, that there are no returns or refunds (at least on some 'butterfly' which I think was a charm). The selection of Swarovski is the best i've seen in a very long time, and they also carry their pearls. The classes managed to impress me, which they rarely do. The one that they were advertising was on metalwork, which is one of the things that I don't know how to do. Makes me wish I lived close. read more

Nice beads but APPALLING customer service. I used to shop at World of Beads when I first got into jewelry making. They do have a good selection of individual beads and lots of crystal, gemstones, seed beads, and precious metal beads. However, I don't shop there anymore. Their customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced in my life anywhere ever, period. If the staff even lower themselves to acknowledge you they make you feel stupid instead of informing you or offering advice, solicited or otherwise. I was in the store once for 35 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. I once stood at the counter for 15 minutes and finally had to ask for help because they were busy talking on the phone, eating, chatting amongst themselves, or talking to customers who were obviously personal friends. There are other bead stores in the greater Cincinnati area you can go to-- check around. Especially if you are new to beading and think you might find it intimidating, try another store. If you already know what you're looking for, have some beading experience, and don't mind being treated like a second-class citizen, then this is the store for you. They should get two stars from me because their selection is decent, but I can't in good conscience give them any more than one star. I simply refuse to shop there anymore. Hop across the river to Northern Kentucky and check out the Bellevue Beadery on Fairfield Avenue near the Party Source. It's a world of difference. read more

This was my first time in WOB. The staff was friendly and very helpful in helping me make decisions on the bead products. I was able to string my beads at the store and receive help with clamping. It felt good as a new beader, that I was able to walk out the store with a finished product. They have a great selection of styles, colors and materials. read more

I stopped in recently to (hopefully) pick up a bird pendant to be used for a necklace. My mother beads and my wife and I thought it would be a nice gift for her to use to make herself a necklace and we specifically wanted the bird theme. There were two employees and and no other customers so both of them helped look around for all the different bird pieces they had. All of the pieces they showed us were smaller than what we had in mind for a necklace. We did really like one of the pieces though, and I had the idea to purchase two of them to be used for earrings instead. When I mentioned this, one of the employees immediately offered that she could make the earrings for us. She said the price would include cost of materials and a small fee for the work. She picked out another bead to add to the earring design and showed it to us as an example. We ended up really liking the idea and went with her recommendation to have her make them. The earrings turned out beautiful and my mother loved them. The customer service was great and the additional help and recommendations were wonderful. read more

I stopped in this store for the first time the other day. The selection is good and I found some nice things. The customer service was absolutely wonderful from Makayla. There were quite a few people in and out of the store and somehow she always managed to juggle multiple customers at once, with grace and personality. Really great bead store in a cute area of town. The prices are a little on the expensive side (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). The staff is very helpful if you need them, but doesn't crowd you if you are just looking around. They carry a wide variety of beads, and offer some interesting classes. read more

I went to this shop and was thrilled !!!!! Not only did they have a huge selection of every kind of bead and supply imaginable, but the girl who helped me was beyond fantastic. I had 3 shirts I was making bracelets for. She looked at them and went all over the store and picked out all kinds of beads to help me. She put together ideas and designs for me and I have never been more thrilled in my life. She even showed me an easy way to crimp beads and add a clasp. I have never had anyone help me so much ever. She was just fantastic. I wish I lived closer, but I will always go there when I need beads or any kind of help. read more
