The Clipper is quite a nice pub as it is really spacious with plenty of seating areas - benches,…read moretables or high chairs by the bar. We decided to come here for lunch as I was really craving pub food! For starter I ordered soup of the day which was potato and leek - my favourite! :) the soup tasted lovely, was just a little lumpy for me but thats just personal preference I guess. For the main I ordered a steak pie and a side of deep fried pickles. The steak pie was accompanied with some vegetables and thick chips - lovely but the portion was definitely too large for me :(. I had tried deep fried pickles in America before and loved it so I was happy they had this! Unfortunately I didn't enjoy it this time as I felt that it was over cooked so the batter was quite hard. The prices of the meals were fairly cheap and they had quite a large selection of meals. You definitely get your moneys worth here! Will definitely be returning again :)

They offer alot of deals and I love a deal. Drink is reasonably priced which is refreshing excuse the pun. All in all the clipper is a good bet if you are on a budget and out of ideas like I have been for the majority of my life. It used to be a shipping office but you stop caring when you are presented with a huge burger and chips.

The big night arrived and the balloons didn't turn up! And no-one could be contacted! I was really upset and abut angry so the next day I expected a call or email with an apology and a reason why they FAILED to deliver. But no....I eventually got hold of them at 6.30pm 2days after my event and told me the driver had been attacked! Whilst I sympathise with the driver(if this is actually true...doubtful as I asked the police) the fact that the company failed tocontact me to explain annoyed me more! After arguing with "Louise"they agreed to refund me all but £1! And offered me a free service next time! I had no intention of going near them again but I thought I would give them the chance to redeem themselves...BIG mistake! It was the most frustration I have ever experienced! They rarely answer their phone or email the "manager" is always out when they do answer. I think they are a home bases business as they don't answer very business like! They don't have very good communication as they failed to phone or email me to confirm any details of both my orders. They DO NOT contact the venue like they say they will and they ignore your calls after a while! They asked me ( a customer) to stop calling and emailing them! Then when I did call theyjust hung up on me! I was told by someone I would get my freebie and it was cleared by a manager(prob to get me to stop calling) then at my event.....nothing! I urge you DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY as they will let you down and spoil you party/event! Find another company :)

The table was booked, meaning that they did not lose any money in me having to cancel. Shocked at their unprofessional behaviour. Very disappointed, as we have regulars for many years now because of their gluten free menu. We booked a table for next week and had to pay the £10 deposit each. When telephoned I was clearly told that if I cancel 24 hours before I will get a refund on my deposit. I've now been told that you do not get your deposit back! So annoyed at this. Taking advantage of people. I won't be returning or recommending Duck Bay. When you pay your deposit, do not expect to get it back! Shocking service! Update, Duck Bay have removed their Facebook page with my reviews. Shame on them. This is my email to head office. I had a booking made for 4 people on the 31st December 2025. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, this had to be cancelled. I gave 6 days notice, giving you plenty of time to rebook the table. I have in the past cancelled and not been charged. The deposit is to be taken on the day of the booking, and not taken in advance as it had been on this occasion. There is no clear cancellation policy online. On your policy, nowhere does it state a cancellation charges or time limits on cancellation? I did call Duck Bay and was informed that a deposit would be returned if cancelled 24 hours prior. Friends and neighbours have also always had their deposits returned if cancelled before 24 hours. I did ask to rebook and was told that I would need to pay another £40 deposit? I have checked online and there is no availability for a table at 5pm today. You have made no loss and are legally obliged to return my deposit of £40. I am deeply disappointed at the way this matter has been handled. Me and my family are local and regularly visit Duck Bay. After this experience I will not be returning. You clearly do not care much about your existing customers. I will also be writing reviews on our poor experience. Under the Consumer Rights Act you can only withhold a deposit to the extent that it is fair compensation for any losses or inconvenience they incur due to the cancellation. If you easily rebook the table, you're likely owed most or all of it back, as UK consumer law requires fair terms, and keeping a deposit for a minor loss is unfair. Fair Terms: A business can only keep a deposit if it's a fair term, covering their actual losses, not just to make a profit. A week's notice is usually enough time for a popular restaurant to rebook, meaning actual loss might be minimal, making it unfair for you to keep the whole deposit.

Cleveden was referred to us from Harmony Bagpiping and it was a great decision! Allison and her dual mother-daughter team were amazing and even went above and beyond to help us with our trip prior to coming, suggesting things to see and places to go! Now for the wedding day - they were at St Conans Kirk all set up and ready before we got there - then, my bride was running late but they kept on improvising and were just fine! They worked so well with me on the ceremony outline and the numbers that were chosen, even altering to match our bride-down-the-aisle song of Love of A Princess. Afterwards they went to Barcaldine Castle to setup and waited patiently as we were running late due to photography and the such - but they were more than happy to oblige! They played our first dance song and then played different numbers throughout the meal and then performed a mini-concert for us after that was done based on my asks for that - mostly numbers from musicals. They got into the act with the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean donning pirate hats and having rum! Such a great atmosphere and quite the characters! Then at the end they had us sing Auld Lang Syne and the theme from Outlander, but in the original verses - - - cannot wait to get that video!! Such a wonderful group of young ladies who stayed with us throughout our entire day and were great people to boot!! Thank you so much, Allison and team, for helping making our day beautiful and special with your patience, friendship and musical ability! If you want a down to earth and feel like you have known someone forever, we suggest you reach out to Cleveden - you will not be disappointed! Heidi and Paul Murphy Surprise, AZ

Their service was just fabby- the kids food arrived in those little cardboard trains that held a couple of sandwiches, fruit, a handful of crisps, a cup of juice and a napkin. Whilst the kids ate, the ladies asked the adults if they would like a tea/coffee. I had brought little masks for the kids to colour in whilst everyone arrived and whilst the food was served and it turned out that a mask was part of the prize for their pass the parcel, so they dug out another pass the parcel prize. After we sang happy birthday, the kids went into another room for half an hour of games (before the puppet show itself) and the girl managed to control 15 kids and got them to follow the party games. I expected the kids to be running around wildly but they followed everything she said. The party games were from a cd with funky music and I dont recall any other party having this, so the kids thought it was a great novelty. Whilst we were in there, the ladies tidied up all the pressies and all the mess into a bin bag, so when we came back after the show, everything was there. The kids loved the puppet show. I'd recommend this venue- fantastic service and great staff.
