Cabbie: 'Where to mate?' Me: 'LA Group in Tradeston'…read moreCabbie: '?' Me: '?' Cabbie: 'Hmmmm' Me: 'Hmm, if only I had a wonderful app that could allow me to search for a business, locate it on a map and offer directions to said business' Cabbie: 'You're a bit odd.' Me: ' Bananas to you good sir, follow the blue dot!' This is indeed a strange, hidden, Alice in Wonderland type place, located in a trading estate not a kick in the bottom away from the Grand Ole Opry. It's a bar-tending school.... I know! But it offers a great private venue, with excellent working bar, workable space (the walls were covered in work from the Papergirl art project), and friendly staff. It's a nice place and, I imagine, one that can be altered to suit whatever function/group it happens to be hosting. So what is it? Well, I suppose it has to go down as an event space or venue. But as these spaces go, it's really quite a cool, intimate and would certainly get you 'wow... cool' points from your friends/work colleagues, upon discovering it. Check it out.

We offer a three-stage cocktail bartender training programme - the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards - run from the Liquid Arts Academy, our custom-built facility in the heart of Glasgow. These awards are held in high esteem by hospitality professionals all over the city and beyond and we're proud of our excellent track record in finding our graduates places with some of the most prestigious operations around. We also provide consultancy services to bars, restaurant, hotels and any other kind of hospitality business, applying our years of professional experience to identify where efficiencies can be increased, expenses can be trimmed, and (most importantly) customers' experience improved. With logistical assets including mobile bars, transport, A/V electronics and a team of expert and dedicated personnel, LA Group is perfectly positioned to offer material support as well as consultancy for any kinds of events or promotions, anywhere in Scotland. Our deep roots in the Scottish drinks industry mean that we have the contacts and the relationships to create some very special events, with brand partners whose values and priorities match perfectly. This year (2014) will see us developing the Liquid Arts Academy in Tradeston as an events venue in its own right.

Scottish Mask & Puppet Centre
I had my son's party here in late may 09 and the staff were utterly professional from the moment we…read morearrived till the moment we left. Their service was just fabby- the kids food arrived in those little cardboard trains that held a couple of sandwiches, fruit, a handful of crisps, a cup of juice and a napkin. Whilst the kids ate, the ladies asked the adults if they would like a tea/coffee. I had brought little masks for the kids to colour in whilst everyone arrived and whilst the food was served and it turned out that a mask was part of the prize for their pass the parcel, so they dug out another pass the parcel prize. After we sang happy birthday, the kids went into another room for half an hour of games (before the puppet show itself) and the girl managed to control 15 kids and got them to follow the party games. I expected the kids to be running around wildly but they followed everything she said. The party games were from a cd with funky music and I dont recall any other party having this, so the kids thought it was a great novelty. Whilst we were in there, the ladies tidied up all the pressies and all the mess into a bin bag, so when we came back after the show, everything was there. The kids loved the puppet show. I'd recommend this venue- fantastic service and great staff.
