They gave me a quote initially to repair the soffit and fascia, replace a few broken shingles, and fix a leak located around a pipe boot. They gave me a quote initially and then when i finally decided on them their quote ended up being hundreds higher. They cited that higher prices and demand had driven prices up. I said ok, we signed the paperwork and I waited. I called. I waited. I texted. I waited. Finally someone got ahold of me and told me the work had already been done on my home 2 weeks prior. No scheduling. No verification. No sign off. I was not home during this job at all. There were items from the job incomplete. There were still shingles missing and guess what the roof was still leaking. Rocco said that we would have to do a more extensive repair that was not covered in the original bid. We said we would try to get more money from insurance to cover the additional repairs. Rocco stated he would work with the insurance company as he had experience working with insurance companies on the regular. Eventually after calling my insurance company it seemed he had never contacted my insurance. I thought he might be a busy man so I set up a meeting with all 3 of us. Rocco did not join the meeting at the agreed upon time and therefore missed the meeting. My father-in-law who had done roofing before was visiting from across the country and got up on the roof. Stated that it looked like a shoddy job if completed honestly at all. I asked Rocco for all records of my job any paperwork, internal communications, and photos and videos that he said he had from the men doing the job. Rocco said yes and has now ghosted me. I still have a missing shingle and a leak, over a year after the hurricane now. There was no offer to tarp the roof, no customer service, dodging calls, shifting blame, poor business practices, and shifty attitudes. Do not use R.L. Hayes. they may be coasting off their good reputation before Helene but it seems that they have had a very negative turn company wide after the hurricane.

We've been in our house just over three years and, like not taking your car through the wash, it started to show. The front of the house, the sidewalk, driveway, and our front porch area all needed a good scrubbing. But I know myself (and my non-commercial grade pressure washer) well enough to not attempt this job. So I plugged in my request and in a matter of minutes the estimates started rolling in. Maybe it's my age, maybe it's just my Southern upbringing but I felt if someone was committing to a price point they should see the house in-person. When I mentioned this to Zach he was more than glad to swing by. He did a walk around, asked how far down the sidewalk I wanted cleaned, and stuck with his original estimate. The day of, he was onsite about 15 minutes early getting ready. My father (who is retired from the Air Force) had a saying, "10 minutes early is on time." I concur. He told me it would take about four hours. He was done in about 3.5. So yes, he is punctual and comes at a good price point but what about his work? Oh, that is the best part. The shine, especially after everything dried, was almost blinding. My wife and I spent the next week just staring at our house every time we pulled into the driveway. The front porch area, including the ceiling-window-columns, is pristine. The garage door is back to its original luster. We definitely have the sharpest house on the block now. So if you're looking for someone to do the job right, on time, and at a reasonable price this is it.

My husband and I are both disabled vets and can no longer do small jobs around our house. I began to gather quotes in a Feb 24 and decided to use A2Z Home Improvements in Mar 24. I hired them to build a 9 ft tall wood, grill area gazebo with a metal roof with a start date of 15 April 24. I was informed by Zach Johns (the owner) that because I had waited a month that the cost would now be an additional $200 because the cost of material had went up. I agreed to pay it. I was then informed on several occasions that his guys would be there to start around 7-8am but sometimes showed up at 9am or 2pm. Just random times. The project was completed on 23 May 24. There were many delays and I really tried to be patient but this project took way longer than I was told in the beginning ( a week max). The sub contractor that Zach hires to do his home improvements jobs would ask me questions periodically and then speak with Zach. The was clearly some communication issues because the pitched roof that we discussed was constructed as a box type so I requested that it be done as was discussed initially. As they were tearing the materials down they placed them on my grass and left it for days, hence burning my grass in that area. Now, minds you there was a whole cement basketball court right next to the grass area that they could have put it on, or even cleaned it up at the end of their work day. Throughout this process, Zach ( the owner), never once showed up on site to check on the job for some quality control. I also had to request that the boards being used as shelves be replaced because they were warping and had big knots in them. Surely they had to see that they were warping and maybe thought I wouldn't notice. The amount of time it took to complete this project is unacceptable and cannot be blamed on the weather or other projects they had to get completed. It was clear that we were not a priority. At the end of the project I offered some constructive criticism to Zach and he thanked me and told me if I had any issues in the future to let him know. Here we are in the future (26 Aug 24) and the shelves have completely separated and split. I provided pics and reached out to Zach and his response completely floored me. His response, "Good afternoon, I understand your concern. The wood they used was treated wood. Even treated wood can warp and twist unfortunately. We have changed those board's multiple times along with multiple other changes to the metal, wood and stain which has brought us into the negative on this particular job due to the changes to the project and having to pay our guys for there time as well. It is something we can fix but i will not be for free. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. " and my response, "That is unfortunate to hear. Considering my husband and I are both disabled vets and trusted your company to stand by their work I would have expected a better resolution. If it was known that this would happen with these boards then I would have expected your company to offer another option based on their professional experience. This could have been an easy repair at minimal cost, I'm sure. The fact that changes had to be made along the way was because it was clear that there was a lack of communication about the expectations of the final project, which you supplied a picture of to me. I had been more than accommodating to your business and the many delays it took to complete this job, as well as no onsite visits to do some quality control along the process, without leaving a review because I know how that can affect a business. I offered constructive criticism to you as a business owner and you thanked me and assured me that if I had any issues that they would be addressed. This was your chance to stand by your "Satisfaction Guaranteed " slogan. Very disappointing...." Needless to say, we will not be utilizing this business nor would we recommend them. Please be cautious if you decide to use this company...I would not consider this quality work!

We've had one of those years where all the…read morebig expense items happen- car accidents, ER visits, car problems, and eventually septic issues. We weren't aware when we purchased our house that it was on septic (happens with an as-is purchase) and found out after doing a good bit of landscaping. We decided to leave the tank be until something happened and sure enough a few months later after some heavy rain we found the original concrete tank had started collapsing in on itself forming a small sinkhole (aka toddler death trap in my toddler's favorite place to play). In a tizzy we called multiple septic companies to get an idea of how long it would last before the whole system failed and to get quotes on replacing the tank and drain field. Sandhills were some of the first to come out that same day to look at it. Other companies couldn't come by for another day or two. From the start I appreciated their quick response to help calm nerves when other companies weren't as rushed to help. I did end up getting quotes from 3-4 other main companies around and ultimately we went with Sandhills for a few reasons but the biggest one was they were the only ones who were willing to work around our wild garden situation and try their best not to kill things. The other companies were a lot less willing to work with us on that and also were very pushy about doing things "their way", which just didn't allow for much as far as saving our plants went. The quote we got from Sandhills was a little higher than the other companies but we chose them for their willingness to work around plants and their professionalism. They weren't able to fit us in for about 3 weeks, which stressed me out with a septic tank on the fritz and company visiting us and a toddler all while being pregnant, but thankfully the tank lasted and we didn't have to resort to another company. I do think they'd have done their best to move us up if the system totally failed but they are also busy so it just worked out in the end and I'm thankful for that. Rodney and Deshon were very nice and worked hard during the two days it took to replace the septic tank and redo all the drain field, and also demolish the old tank so it wouldn't be a sinkhole anymore. He even had his son out working (summer job I guess!) which sped things up. A few things were unexpected for them like a lot of groundwater filling the hole before placing the tank but my toddler and I were out there watching a lot of the work (excavators are pretty cool, and I'm a soil scientist who loves to see some redox features) and at no point did I hear any complaining about that delaying them or the heat or anything. I've worked manual labor jobs before and am prone to complaining about things like that so I noticed and appreciated that. They also didn't up the final cost due to those delays and I thought that was a possibility; given our year I'm thankful they didn't! Overall I can't recommend them enough and am very glad the stars aligned for us to hire them. Nearly all plants survived the chaos and I am finally not stressed out about our septic tank.
