Do not use this company. My negative experience was with Rocco. I decided to go with this company after hurricane Helene. They gave me a quote initially to repair the soffit and fascia, replace a few broken shingles, and fix a leak located around a pipe boot. They gave me a quote initially and then when i finally decided on them their quote ended up being hundreds higher. They cited that higher prices and demand had driven prices up. I said ok, we signed the paperwork and I waited. I called. I waited. I texted. I waited. Finally someone got ahold of me and told me the work had already been done on my home 2 weeks prior. No scheduling. No verification. No sign off. I was not home during this job at all. There were items from the job incomplete. There were still shingles missing and guess what the roof was still leaking. Rocco said that we would have to do a more extensive repair that was not covered in the original bid. We said we would try to get more money from insurance to cover the additional repairs. Rocco stated he would work with the insurance company as he had experience working with insurance companies on the regular. Eventually after calling my insurance company it seemed he had never contacted my insurance. I thought he might be a busy man so I set up a meeting with all 3 of us. Rocco did not join the meeting at the agreed upon time and therefore missed the meeting. My father-in-law who had done roofing before was visiting from across the country and got up on the roof. Stated that it looked like a shoddy job if completed honestly at all. I asked Rocco for all records of my job any paperwork, internal communications, and photos and videos that he said he had from the men doing the job. Rocco said yes and has now ghosted me. I still have a missing shingle and a leak, over a year after the hurricane now. There was no offer to tarp the roof, no customer service, dodging calls, shifting blame, poor business practices, and shifty attitudes. Do not use R.L. Hayes. they may be coasting off their good reputation before Helene but it seems that they have had a very negative turn company wide after the hurricane. read more

We entrusted R. L. Hayes to provide roof services to our home in July 2021. We experienced a leak and it was never properly prepared. Now, we have wood damage due to this leak. This is our home that we placed in their hands for protection and instead we have even more damage. As of March 2025, we were told the owner sold the business and shared the contract information with the current owner. We have been denied help, denied returned phone calls, and denied email responses. Very disappointed with paying for services that are not being followed through. RUN THE OTHER WAY! Paid a deposit of the more than elevated fee, chose the color, and signed the work agreement. 2/24/25. -Shingles delivered were wrong color, it was corrected. Roofers worked into the dark. The siding around the dormers was old and would be damaged coming off, this was discussed in advance. Blake, (owner) said that it would be taken care of. The crew tried to put the broken siding back on until my husband stopped them. More delays. 3/13/25-Trying to get R.L.Hayes out to finish the job for 2 weeks. Communication has come to a standstill. Completed one. 3/14/25- Completed other. Went out to look at the front of the house and noticed the mess over both of the front windows where the bit of roof comes over the windows. They spray painted silver flashing black, drips and all, spray paint on the white vinyl, huge gaps in the flashing. We also learned that the crew had cut into the brick instead of the mortar line leaving us no other choice but to accept the incredibly wide flashing across the top. 3/15/25- The flashing mess was re-worked. It still looks terrible. 3/16/25- It rained. We discovered leaking by the skylights and leaking into the ceiling where the dormers are. My husband had to poke a hole in the ceiling to ensure that the water didn't travel anywhere else. Every time it rained, my husband went up into the attic to see where the leak was. 3/17/25- Meet at the office of R.L.Hayes to speak with Blake about the leaking problems. Rocco was present. We were met with a defensive stance by Blake- agitated that we were complaining about the NEW roof his company installed leaking. Blake back-peddled on covering the siding replacement around the dormers. Claiming that siding wasn't a part of the agreement. We took your word- now it is clear that it doesn't mean much. 3/19/25-A crew came out- 12:30pm, sat under a tree for an hour and then left. I called, asked what was up with that? A crew came out around 4pm and worked into the night finishing around 9:30pm. They worked solely on the skylight area of the house. Redoing the shingles. 3/31/25-It rained. We checked the areas that we had leaking and they are still leaking. There is new water damage in the skylight area, as the now 'fixed' skylights have a new leaking area in addition to the old one. My husband sent a video of the leaks. 4/1/25-Sent 2 men to caulk the skylights. Husband checked the work- the caulking having gaping openings. He sent pics to Rocco. 4/4/25- Rocco and Javier came by to see where the leaking is coming from. Running water with a garden hose over the roof. They didn't get the leaking that we were experiencing. We explained that we get a lot of wind here and when the rain is driving against the shingles, we get leaking. They decided to try and mimic that by shooting water up against the shingles causing the water to run down the back of the interior wall, leaving stains on the carpet by the wall as it soaked up the water. 4/7/25- Rocco and others came by to verify once again that the DORMERS and SKYLIGHTS LEAK. Definition of insanity... 5/1/25-Javiar and another came out to work on the dormers and skylights. Communication has been almost at a standstill. Every time y'all come out and touch our home, we have more damage. 5/16/25- We paid the balance owing as we FINALLY have no more leaks on our NEW ROOF. It is not so much the mistakes, it is how you fix them. If it wasn't for my husband's professional experience to recognize the issues, press you to do what is right we would still be left with a leaking NEW ROOF. If it wasn't for the fact that we owed them money, we would not have ever seen them again. NEVER PAY IT ALL UPFRONT. The hurricane allowed many roofing Co. to make a lot of money, but it also helped the community to see who is worthy of business and who is not. Greed, deplorable workmanship, poor communications and a lack of professionalism is what people see. They answered quickly and sent someone out the next day to provide an estimate. They explained that I didn't have to be home and that the tech would call me if I was needed. I chose Hayes roofing after talking to three local roofing companies. Mr. Hayes was polite and answered all my questions. Even calling him several times because I didn't understand the process. I needed a whole new roof. And was very glad to have someone who I felt was fair and honest. His team was here bright and early. They finished the job in one day.
