I needed $200 of VND before my trip to Vietnam. Unfortunately, my banks did not have access to VND. The exchange rate was a fukn rip off! I checked the exchange rate vs my rate converter, and I received the equivalent of $127. Contrast the foregoing w/ my hotel in Vietnam (hotels typically have bad exchange rates), where I received twice as many VND. Talk about getting rear ended: That's a 37% commission to AAA. My family and I have all been AAA members for about 11 years. While AAA comes in clutch when you're stranded, I've found that their in-person customer service is lacking. I've consistently renewed my AAA membership for two reasons. 1. I'm paranoid and don't want to be stuck on the side of a road. 2. to avoid the DMV at all cost. Their roadside service is incredible. As soon as you call/text they secure a tow service to reach you. It's also great that you can use this service for a friend's vehicle if you're with them. Flat tires and dead batteries are no longer a source of anxiety! If the goal is to bypass the DMV, I think they could do a better job of elevating their the in-person experience. Each location I've visited has been outdated, with long wait times, and unhappy employees. Especially if you visit on a Saturday morning. Not too different than the DMV, eh? AAA offers other services like insurance (sadly overpriced) and travel assistance. I've never booked a trip through their system, but might pursue this in the future! read more

The most pathetic and disinterested customer service I have ever experienced. I've been a customer for over ten years, and when I called in about a policy issue created by a AAA internal error, the person I spoke to could not have been less engaged. Almost like assisting a customer was a chore. Told me they couldn't do anything, I'd just have to wait a few days for everything to 'fix itself'. Yet when I called the national 800 line, someone was able to give me specifics, reach out to the responsible department, and at least seemed to have some genuine interest in taking care of a customer issue. Communication skills are a must when you work at a place like this. Nobody wants to help you. There was a bunch of people in the lobby and no one was calling the next person to help. It happened after 20 minutes of waiting. I called earlier to see if I needed an appointment I was told that I did not. When I got to the office I called there was a need. last september we took out new insurance for house and five cars we find out later that our agent dropped the ball and never finished our home insuranc, turns out he went out on some personal leave. Because of his incompetence we had to stay with our other home owners insurance. so we lost our group discount. and said we should call back in march when our other policy expires. She sent us to wait for another agent and then sent him to his break or home or something where I had to let the receptionist know he was supposed to help us. The receptionist caught up to him and he came back. - Agent 2. Then we got helped by David Q: Five stars. He knew what to do, was familiar with the process, and helped us thoroughly and quickly. The lady that didn't try to help us at first (Olga) said that because she wasn't new she couldn't do the paperwork for us (like saying he was new and dumb enough to deal with it). I was told that my son HAD TO be present and was dismissed by the man/attendant at the counter. I left and thought it just didn't make sense. Absolute incompetence. When the pandemic hits and there's a employee shortage, I guess that means AAA will hire any IDIOT that can breathe and barely graduated high school. I talked to no less than three phone reps requesting to SCHEDULE a tow for the following morning. The first rep told me the tow wasn't possible. I was trying to move my dormant/non-operational car from my driveway to a storage yard. The idiot rep named "Precious" assumed I said junkyard (didn't bother to clarify) and told me they don't provide that type of towing service. I asked her if the decision was done by AAA or the tow provider. She said the provider and when I asked to verify with the provider, she audibly huffed (it sounded like my request put her in respiratory depression) and kept stammering trying to come up with the information. I hung up in disgust. When you reach an idiot customer service rep, the best plan short of leaving the service altogether is hang up, call again, and hope you don't get a moron on the other end. Second rep was named "Joslyn" - seemed competent for the most part - verified that my membership (been with them for a few decades through family membership and branched out on my own) was valid for up to four tows 100 miles away. She further confirmed that I could tow to whichever "destination of my choice", except for junk yards. See the difference? Unlike "Precious" (her name must've gotten to her head) - who assumed I was towing to a junkyard, Joslyn verified what I had said - which was towing to a storage unit where you pay monthly rent for space/unit. Joslyn was great until the part where she was helping me schedule a tow for the following morning. Except she didn't. While she was asking me the pickup/dropoff locations, I started getting text alerts to my phone notifying me that a tow driver was dispatched... another one that said a driver was on the way to my home... and a third text that said driver's ETA was about 30 minutes. I brought this up to Joslyn and confirmed with her that a driver wasn't being sent out today, but tomorrow - since I was trying to handle all of this during my lunch break at work. She said she'd notate my account and email the dispatch team so they can reschedule to the following morning (a request I made when I first started the call and multiple times throughout). Needless to say, after we hung up, about 15 minutes later, the tow driver called me to tell me his driver was on his way to my home. I clarified that I wanted it scheduled tomorrow. Guy said his driver was already enroute and he'd try to cancel. I know these guys work fast, and these services aren't cheap. They'd save so much more time and money if the AAA call center wasn't completely incompetent. Third call was to cancel my membership and request a prorated refund. I spoke to Theresa, who initially was gung-ho about me cancelling my membership (nice way to treat a long-time member). When she clarified what I wanted, she pulled up the notes the previous rep took and realized that the rep had just notated that I wanted to schedule for following morning, but didn't actually reach out to dispatch to tell them - which is why they subsequently sent a driver out. Third rep was able to straighten things out - but seriously, this was for a tow for a car I just wanted to move from my home to a storage unit. If I had been in an accident or stranded in the middle of the freeway or something - and I had to deal with absolute morons who somehow survived a full lobotomy - definitely would not be a happy camper. Despite my long time membership, and rarely utilizing any service calls allotted to members each year - I resorted to going through Yelp for a independent towing service provider altogether. This is proof that AAA membership is not worth it. At the cost of $89+ a year, and zero service calls the past few years - they've gotten more money than they deserve from me at this point. If you can't provide a basic service like towing - your company's bread and butter when it comes to roadside assistance, "membership" is no use to me. My current car comes standard with roadside assistance and so does my auto insurance through State Farm. AAA customer service has gone down the sewage. Going to cancel my membership and request a refund on Tuesday when their offices open up. The level of incompetence is astounding and unacceptable. It's like they took all the rejects that got fired or tested out of working at the DMV, and dragged them over to staff their call center. And don't blame the pandemic. Not a valid excuse when you're AAA - you have customers, not patients. I work in healthcare and have managed the pandemic fine. No excuse for incompetence. Train your people better or hire people with some sense of customer service. read more

I've been here several times, mostly for the car registration service that is awesome. The service here has always been great but wanted to give them a shout out for heir services during the pandemic. They have tables set up outside, everyone was pleasant and I was asked to put my registration, member card and cash in a plastic bag and they take care of the service inside while you safely wait outside. Love going to this office as it's off the beaten path and usually a bit quieter than most AAA offices. It's definitely on the smaller side and usually the wait isn't quite as long as some of the bigger offices. It's always a saving grace when you can use the DMV services here without having to go to the DMV which is always a complete nightmare. I am a premier member and have been for four or five years now. I get extra mileage towing with the Premier and travel books as well. It costs a bit more but well worth it just in decades something does happen that requires a long tow. AAA is also great for travel reservations and are very helpful to make sure you get the most out of your vacation. I've been using AAA since I started driving many years ago and have never looked back since. read more

This blows my mind and every person I know. Want to know what the average competing price was (even with lower deductibles)? $1624! Just got back home and we had a great experience! Josh was very helpful to us and even though we were there the longest than other customers and had a bunch of questions, and he was running back and forth, (because the service is all being done outside right now) he was still very patient and happy to help. We were there for probably 30 to 40 minutes, and as far as I could tell, all the other employees were very helpful as well and none of the customers seemed to be upset over much. Renewal for our membership is due, which for my husband, younger son is $205.00. Another membership we pay is our other college son that is due for $113.00. Called to see if they will offer us any discount since not driving and their travel services are basically closed like notary. Basically told after being a member for over 32 years that they cannot discount and we have 95 days to pay or good bye. What a way to treat a long term customer who cannot afford a bill of over $300.00 right now. AAA is giving bonuses to their employees during this time while some of us don't know when we will work. Ripped off by travel agent Sharan! My fiance booked our Hawaii vacation through her. The agent showed her that booking through them was cheaper than Expedia, orbit, etc and assured her we were getting a better deal. She didn't disclose the extra $467 we have to pay in cleaning and resort fees at the location the agent selected. That's ridiculous for a place we are only staying 4 nights. Expedia, Orbitz, etc disclose ALL the fees+taxes up front. AAA does not. Sharan outright lied about getting us a better deal. How is this legal? read more
