A book from America's uncomfortable, racist past

I'm not an antique guy. Neither is my gal. But I AM someone who'll veer off the highway to check something out on a whim. Enter the Antique Mall. This place is impossibly huge. Drop panel ceiling and harsh, elementary school lighting. The spaces are cordoned off and rented to individual sellers, so the variety and quality of offerings varies wildly. I like this place! I didn't buy anything, nor would I, because I'm a man of a certain age & I have my own worthless junk. Check the photos. This place is worth an hour of your time and it smells like Grandma's house.

Stopped on a whim on our way home from Cleveland. It's a never ending store filled with many treasures. I don't believe we made it through the whole place. It was awesome seeing all the different items and retro finds. There were some unique pieces and many gorgeous items.

If you are looking for tRump campaign HQ, look no further. How this place can call itself an "antique" mall is beyond me. WAY TOO MANY booths and cabinets with pro-tRump campaign items. Unless you consider the fact that tRump is over 50 years old (the standard for defining the term "antique") then this place has steadily gone downhill since we first started visiting. Judge for yourselves! These are just a few examples of the tRump Zhit Zhow.

Was looking forward to shopping in the Mall. I found so many good buys and items I have been looking for. When I saw that several of the dealers are selling Swastikas, I was upset. This is the first Antique Mall where I have seen them selling HATE. When I told them I was offended, their response was, (an I don't give a damn) I told them I would spend one penny in their business and walked out...

You know those movies where a little girl has been shipped off to live with some eccentric Aunt she never new after a tragic accident has killed her beloved parents. She starts off in terror of the Aunt. She peers in a doorway watching her talk to an old man servant in a dark wood paneled study or answers her questions sparingly from the opposite end of a long dinner table with numerous large silver candelabras blocking her view. Eventually, through adventure and new friendships with odd townspeople, the little girls learns that her Aunt is not so bad after all. And on her path to the hug filled happy ending there will be a montage where she discovers the crazy Aunts long packed away heartbreak history (the love of her life was probably killed at a young age, doing something heroic, of course) in spider web covered trunks surrounded by old furniture draped in white sheets. These items are usually located in a giant attic that she has been banned from playing in but can't resist the temptation. There will be one round window as the only source of sun light. The electricity never works in these attics. There will be clouds of dust covering everything and as she opens the trunks finding treasure the dust will raise as if it was ghosts of other children playing with her. You know this story...well so does the proprietor of Booth 730 at the AAA Antique Mall in Ravenna, Ohio. To explore Booth 730 is to be this little girl in the attic surrounded by large brimmed hats; classic fur stoles, party dresses that haven't danced in decades; pearl covered gloves the size of a debutant tiny hand and the tiny trinkets that meant something big to someone sometime. Booth 730 is a magic place where the history of every crazy old Aunt is stored and where you can shop and I always do. Who runs this booth? Show yourself because your taste in all things vintage and fabulous is spot on. No trip to Ravenna is complete until I have been to Booth 730. The prices are ridiculous (ridiculously cheap) and my hat collection grows every time I visit. I brows around the rest of the booths at the mall but I always start and end at Booth 730 for that is where adventure never ends.

Not many clothes or crafts which is a good thing. Nice mall with a good variety. They have some unique stuff. I'm usually pretty fast going through these places but this one really slowed me down. Lots to look at.

This place is HUGE. So many booths! I have never seen an antique place this big. I'm so glad I found it because I live in Pittsburgh and I usually go to Berlin, Ohio to shop for antiques, and this is much closer. I could spend all day at this place.

Fat chalk stick inserted to take up space and make the jar look like it's full of marbles.

Every time we visit Ohio, we shop here. It's huge, fairly priced, & has a great variety of eras represented! I highly recommend it.

When I got to the store there was an older gentleman at the counter working. He immediately seemed…read moreirritated that I was there. He Talked over me every time I tried to talk, not letting me complete one sentence. The best way I can put it is the definition of condescending in its truest form: Behavior or language showing a patronizing, superior attitude, where someone acts as if they are better, more intelligent, or more important than others.

Full disclosure - I grew up around the corner from Michael Press. But while we've known each other…read morefor decades, that only matters because its the reason I went to Mike for an engagement ring in the first place. However, it does not, for a moment, affect this review. Sometime a while back, I knew I was going to propose to my lovely fiance (spoilers! she said yes), and started shopping for a ring. Researched the important factors and started looking around, and while i found a lot of nice rings, nothing that really called to me. It was a frustrating process, culminating in buying what I thought would be the perfect ring online, only to return it. That was probably the lowest moment, and so I took a break in my ring shopping. Fast forward some months later, and I saw someone else from my hometown post photos on social media of a beautiful designer engagement ring from Mike Press, and so I reached out to Mike. I had no idea what I wanted, even after all that shopping, and couldn't have been more nervous. I didn't want to design a custom ring, because I have the imagination of a piece of wood, so I relied on Mike to ask the right questions and pick out a number of options. He was patient, detailed in his explanations of various rings and options, and came up with a number of beautiful suggestions. Nevertheless, I still could not make a decision. I was scared of completely screwing this up. I asked a million questions, then disappeared for weeks while I thought about it, only to come back and ask more questions. Mike never brushed me off or decided I wasn't going to be a sale - he just kept helping me along. In the end, not only did Mike find a beautiful diamond but he held it for me in spite of having other interested parties. Sent me photos, videos, descriptions, etc until I was finally able to pull the trigger. With the perfect diamond, he then suggested what ended up being the perfect setting to go with it. I was so trilled with what he put together that I wasn't even worried about whether or not Melissa would like it. Again, it was perfect. I wish I could find more good things to say. This was an incredibly stressful and nerve wracking process but Mike made it easy in the end. I was glad to give the business to someone I've known my whole life, but even still, was not expecting the kindness, patience, and helpfulness to the degree Mike provided. He bent over backwards to make this easy.
