Full disclosure - I grew up around the corner from Michael Press. But while we've known each other for decades, that only matters because its the reason I went to Mike for an engagement ring in the first place. However, it does not, for a moment, affect this review. Sometime a while back, I knew I was going to propose to my lovely fiance (spoilers! she said yes), and started shopping for a ring. Researched the important factors and started looking around, and while i found a lot of nice rings, nothing that really called to me. It was a frustrating process, culminating in buying what I thought would be the perfect ring online, only to return it. That was probably the lowest moment, and so I took a break in my ring shopping. Fast forward some months later, and I saw someone else from my hometown post photos on social media of a beautiful designer engagement ring from Mike Press, and so I reached out to Mike. I had no idea what I wanted, even after all that shopping, and couldn't have been more nervous. I didn't want to design a custom ring, because I have the imagination of a piece of wood, so I relied on Mike to ask the right questions and pick out a number of options. He was patient, detailed in his explanations of various rings and options, and came up with a number of beautiful suggestions. Nevertheless, I still could not make a decision. I was scared of completely screwing this up. I asked a million questions, then disappeared for weeks while I thought about it, only to come back and ask more questions. Mike never brushed me off or decided I wasn't going to be a sale - he just kept helping me along. In the end, not only did Mike find a beautiful diamond but he held it for me in spite of having other interested parties. Sent me photos, videos, descriptions, etc until I was finally able to pull the trigger. With the perfect diamond, he then suggested what ended up being the perfect setting to go with it. I was so trilled with what he put together that I wasn't even worried about whether or not Melissa would like it. Again, it was perfect. I wish I could find more good things to say. This was an incredibly stressful and nerve wracking process but Mike made it easy in the end. I was glad to give the business to someone I've known my whole life, but even still, was not expecting the kindness, patience, and helpfulness to the degree Mike provided. This is a fun place to spend if you're into thrifting but also appreciate nice, well made things. It's centrally located right off a main road and also has plenty of parking right in front of the door! This is the storeroom for Pier & Co's items from estate sales and moves. I like coming here from time to time because I never know what I'm going to find! I've found many impressive pieces of furniture, art and fine jewelry for decent prices. The owner was really kind and was able to offer me a better price for a poker table I've been eying for months! read more

I was at a sale day 2 and had a picture I wanted to purchase but was unmarked. I made an offer and my sale was written up. When I got to check out I was told there was no way the picture could be sold to me for that price. Seriously? Price your items first or honor the price I was given. read more

I was excited to receive a projector lamp from P&C via eBay. Packaging was done very well ... UNTIL, removing the box from the mailing envelope. I did not see that the hidden end of the box was missing the closure flap. Of course, the bulb slid right on out and shattered all over the floor. Yep, I accept that I should have opened it over the confines of a "well-padded cradle" ... lesson learned. Still, VERY disappointed. This could have easily been prevented had the seller taken the time to at least tape the open end of the box before packaging. P&C was quick to respond ONCE only: "... It was intentional to not tape that open box. Many buyers consider this a collectors item and would see taping the box as devaluing the item. We sent you the exact item as it was pictured and would never tape it to cause damage to the box. To many, the box is just as valuable as the bulb itself. ... but please do not blame us for an accidental mishap" I understand collectors and their boxes. They are all about the condition of the original box. Therefore, shouldn't P&C have tried something simple like placing it in a sealed, clear bag so the receiving party could easily see the box was missing a flap? The eBay posting did not give any information noting the condition of the box and only one view that totally hid the missing flap end. If P&C's target buyers are collectors, condition and multiple views should be a priority. Especially if there is any deformation or missing parts. No significant damage or missing flap could be seen from the one picture posted on eBay. My intension was to put the bulb into actual use. So, I didn't have much concern about the box other than that it appeared to be in reasonably good shape. That gave me good assumption that the bulb was probably in working order. The box missing a flap renders it almost worthless as a collector item. Therefore, I place the greater blame on Pier & Co. Would I do business with P&C again? Maybe, but understand that if you are an on-line collector, contact P&C to get full details of any item before placing a bid. Although, due to their lack of accepting any blame, it is doubtful you will get the full information. Had I been a collector, I would definitely be crying FRAUD for misrepresentation! Maybe P&C will take better responsibility in the future? read more

I do not recommend. The business is unethical, donates items to goodwill "supposedly". The owner does not care about your items that you cosign, you are another ticket, another number, and your items are not cared for in the least. Your items will be sold cheaply, damaged, and become missing. Yes, make sure you keep an inventory and accounting of what you send this business should you choose to use them. Make sure you review the documented hours for house clean outs, the charges for the crew to pick up or manage your household items. The business is padded with excessive man hours at your expense, items are documented to be sold at one price but you are paid another! read more

I interviewed several companies and they appeared to be the most professional of the companies I met with. The sale itself seemed to run well enough even though we were disappointed with the total proceeds we received. My issue with Pier and Co. is the handling of "consignment" items. These are items that were unsold during the our estate sale but were removed (with my approval) for use in subsequent Pier and Co estate sales. DO NOT CONSIGN YOUR ITEMS FOR SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was told the items were "donated" in December after our October sales. Pier and Co. was not authorized to donate these items (I'm very skeptical these were donated to anyone but Pier and Co). I was told a tax receipt was mailed to me (it was not) I am certain these items were sold by Pier and Co. at later estate sales and all proceeds were kept by Pier and Co. Additionally, the handling of other people's consigned items at our sale was sloppy. I don't know how credit could possibly be accurately assigned. IE....who is owed what. Multiple consigned items were simply left at our house for cleanup. DO NOT DO YOUR ESTATE SALE WITH PIER AND CO! YOU WILL REGRET IT. read more

It appears by their reviews that they treat Buyers better than sellers. Any positive reviews are from people buying from them. So of course they are treating them hopefully professionally. But if they are selling your items, I HAVE HAD A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE LACKING ANY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR DOZENS OF ITEMS. read more

After reading through some of the negative reviews I have to say that it is extremely difficult to please someone you run estate sale as I myself have an estate sale company (I am in no way affiliated with this company and do not know any of the staff). Consigning things after an estate sale is not a requirement or standard service, its the companies last ditch effort to get you SOMETHING out of nothing. The unfortunate truth is that lots of clients have things there is no market for, there is much more to consider when you research pricing, finding a listing (even a sold listing) on ebay is not an accurate depiction of what you stand to make off an item. I'll spare you the details of the immense amount of variables that effect local markets and therefore pricing but it is much more involved than one would think and its a hard job. All that being said I've been to one of this companies sales and thought they did a decent job. read more

Unethical - Arrived early to get first number - When opened walked directly to item put my hand on it and said "I will take it". The rep said I will mark it sold and I said "great". Oh no someone that came in after me (higher number) and purchased it. How can this happen. I was there first and the Pier Co. rep marked the ticket on the item as SOLD (to me). Just ask Juli she runs the questionable show. Never again wasting my time at Pier & Co. and neither should you. After reading the reviews I see that customers buying or selling are not happy with this business. If you are looking for someone to handle your estate sale look elsewhere.
