Travel insurance that looks great on paper... until you actually need to use it. I filed a claim with over $1,000 in documented expenses, including approximately $870 related to a travel delay. I submitted all required receipts and documentation at the time of filing. Weeks later, I received a notice that my claim was closed due to "lack of documentation." This was incorrect--everything had already been uploaded. After following up, Allianz acknowledged that the claim had been closed in error. However, the claim was then processed under a "no receipts" limit, and I was issued only $100, despite receipts being on file. Only after repeated follow-ups and escalation did they admit the receipts were there and issue an additional payment--bringing the total to $400. Documentation was not properly reviewed. The claim was incorrectly closed. Benefits were initially calculated incorrectly. Multiple errors had to be corrected only after repeated escalation. What should have been a straightforward claim turned into a time-consuming process requiring constant follow-up just to have the claim reviewed properly. No explanation. No paperwork. Nothing. So I follow up... and they say, "We need documentation." You mean the documentation I already uploaded weeks ago?! "Oh... sorry, let us review." And after all that? They decide to pay... $100. I asked for a re-review, thinking surely this had to be a mistake. Nope. "Claim closed." Started my policy one day, well atleast I thought. My agent went on leave, I never heard from anyone until I got a letter in the mail saying my services were being terminated due to none payment (I made the first payment). I never knew the agent was on leave, as she said she was going to make contact again. I started working with another agent, she kept giving me the run around telling me she would call me back after the underwriting was complete. Went in person yesterday was told a supervisor would call me back, as if 5:00 pm today I haven't heard from anyone. I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

I'm planning a trip out of the country. My travel agent highly suggested I get an International Driving Permit (often called an international driver's license, which it is not). AAA is one of only two organizations authorized by the U.S. State Department to issue these permits. Be very leery of websites offering this service. They are likely fraudulent. In a nut shell, this permit authorizes you to drive in approximately 150 countries. The driving permit is interpreted into 10 different languages in the booklet. It DOES NOT substitute for Identification in the United States. If you get the permit at an AAA location, you can walk out with it while you are there. If you are too far away, you can also fill out the request and mail it in. You do not have to be a member of AAA to use them for the permit. You also have to have two "passport photos" with you to have your permit done. You can have them taken on site as well. If you are not an AAA member, two pictures is $15. If you are a member, it is less. They do have shortened Saturday hours (10-2) but I was just thankful they were open on Saturday. The Missouri City AAA location is the closest location to League City and Galveston County. The location in Clear Lake closed about a decade ago. I found out while I was at this location that they serve the entire southern part of Texas. There is not a location in Corpus Christi or The Valley. I guess driving to Missouri City from League City wasn't that bad after all. There are other locations in the Houston area but according to the AAA website, they are all northwest, west, or southwest of downtown Houston. The staff here today was very friendly and accommodating. They did tell me about some of the benefits of becoming an AAA member but were not overly pushy about it. They were extremely busy today and yet the line moved fairly quickly. The only reason I took away one star is simply because of the many locations in Houston, none of them are in the southeast part of town. Bottom line - I needed an International Driving Permit. They were very effect and friendly. I got in and out fairly quickly for what I needed. Saturday hours were a plus. An easy four-star review. Thanks for reading. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. I have been a AAA Travel Club Member for more than 20 years and I have carried AAA Home & Auto Insurance for more than 8 years. Until I visited the Missouri City, TX office today, I have always had an excellent experience when visiting a AAA Office. However, my experience today at the Missouri City office leaves me angry and disgusted. I need a passport style photo for a visa which had a specific measurement parameter. The two women I spoke with at the reception area were negative, whiney, and just downright unpleasant about it. I left and went to a CVS Pharmacy down the street where a team member in the photo department, who was friendly and professional, approached my request with a positive, can-do attitude. She was easily able to produce the needed size photo. Shame on AAA Missouri City. Hats off to CVS Pharmacy. read more
