I am glad to be trying new cuisines to be able to bring these to all and this place is a real gem…read more THE MOOD: In Finchley and easy location to travel to. Authentic interior with a large bread clay oven at the front where all the fresh nans are made. A busy environment but easy to talk and make conversation so no loud music and good acoustics. THE FOOD: We had the following dishes: Kash Bademjan - Egg plant dip and although I am not a fan usually but as this was all mashed up and mixed with other ingredients it goes well with the nan as well as the sauces that come along with this. Big enough starter to share. Nan - This comes along as standard as far as I can tell and worth ordering anyway as you will need to see the size of this but 1 will be enough for 2-4 of you to share. This is made fresh in clay oven and as I say this is a must. Chello Koubideh - Lamb kofte style with rice and you get two long kofte style pieces. Nice dish and I dont think you will finish this so be prepared for take away. Morassah Polo - I am told this is the the King of all Persian dishes and comes with the Persian Jewelled Rice. The rice is amazingly fragrant and comes with a splash of colours and tastes of sweetness that complements the chicken perfectly. The chicken itself is coated with a tomato coating and chicken is moist and falls off the bone, it was just perfect. You also get a curry sauce that compliments entire dish. I actually cant wait to go back here and again lots of food so again be ready for a take away. Tadig - This is the golden crunchy bottom rice layer, the crowning glory of all Persian rice dishes! To me this is better known as the burnt bottom of the rice, in Persian cuisine, it is much sought after! This was served with some great soft succulent meat pieces served with an amazing sauce with beans and some fries. A sharing dish again and worth trying but then maybe hold off on a starter. THE VERDICT: A good place to come and actually I ordered too much but even with enough food for three maybe four the price is reasonable and food is tasty and great atmosphere with friendly staff. Ok you pack your own doggy bag but that's ok. I would recommend a visit. £50.00 for two

I have only been here once, but have been to quite a few Iranian restaurants, and when looking at the menu, I thought to try the Beef fillet steak in cream, mushroom and red onion sauc, costing 18 pounds. What really shocked me was that it didn't come with rice, and an iraninan meal doesn't make sense without it, so I ordered a whole plate of it as a side, nice fluffy saffron rice, absolutely delicious, they do the best rice!! I find that at Iranian restaurants, I always comment on the great bread and rice. Without doubt, the rice at Lavash was great, and so was the bread, cooked in its own bread oven, arriving at your table, warm, flat and fresh bread, lovely. My friends ordered various kebabs and all their reviews were pleasant, not one negative thing to say. Though at the same time, nothing amazing was said, as for my beef Fillet, it was fine, but it was the rice that had me at hello.

Can't fault this place. Food and service were excellent. But you pay for it…read more If it's your first Persian meal then try the mixed starter, followed by any of the grills (Makhsoos or the boneless chicken would be good ones to try), finished off by some bastany (or faloodeh) and Persian chai. Also try the doogh which is the traditional yoghurt drink. Enjoy.

I have had Afghani food before and always really enjoyed it so was looking forward to trying a new restaurant. The atmosphere when you enter is very warm and calm, with beautiful decorations and lighting on the walls, and the service was courteous and professional. However, it was the food which will lead us to return to this place. The rice dishes were outstanding... with one vegetarian in our group, we had the rice with spinach but we also tried the rice with lamb. Both were excellent. The lamb was very tender in all our lamb dishes (we had three different ones) and the dumplings and starter pastries filled with leek and potato, which we have never tried before, were delicious. This is a great place for groups of friends to have a nice meal at good prices and whilst they don't have a license to serve alcohol, they do allow you to bring your own drink and there is even an off licence next door if needed. There is also parking directly outside the restaurant and also on nearby side streets. Having had a lovely, relaxing time at this place, combined with delicious food and good value prices...we will be back.
