Where do I even begin.... If your Ex hired a lawyer in El Dorado county with a name that rhythms with "Smessa Layer" DO NOT HIRED THEM. I honestly think they work together going back and forth just to rake up their clients bills. Not to mention, if they go to court for you, they charge each client for the court hearing an hourly fee only to give you 10 min of their time. I hired Luke to finish up my divorce once my ex's lawyer decided to ask for my retirement information. At this point, I was 85% done with my divorce. I had filed papers on my own, requested a settlement date, applied for spousal support, etc (payed all of that out of pocket). I had even come to an agreement with my ex. Things had transpired between us and the agreement was no longer a 'go' so I called Luke with the expectations of his solely getting me a divorce, I.e, write up an agreement stating that my ex keeps his things and I keep mine (which would have worked for both parties). Originally I was quoted $7500 as a retained and was told verbatim by Luke "we usually do $10000 for a retainer, but since you are almost done, $7500 should be more than enough". Halfway through I had to pay $3500 more and they ended up charging me close to $1000 over that on my final bill. For a simple settle agreement that I was forced to go to court for. I set them up with one need- a settlement agreement and it took months and thousands of dollars to get it. read more

I hired Aaron as my lawyer during my divorce mediation process and terminated his services due to poor service. Unless you plan on going to court, I would not recommend Aaron and his team for the following reasons: - Aaron and his team took roughly a full business week to respond to my inquiries. I called him to discuss this delay and he informed me that this was standard in the industry and normal due to his client load. - I spent a significant amount of time on each call reviewing information that we had covered on pervious calls. If you (Aaron) are going to charge by the hour, you need to retain the information discussed in pervious calls. - It seemed to me that Aaron was unwilling to give any direct advice. I expect my lawyer to tell me what the law is, where the judge normally rules and then let me make my own decision. Nevertheless, he constantly bills to push a full retainer. I never actually met Aaron. His office and practice is run predominantly by his paralegals and other than a few phone conversations, I have no idea about this man. He's mine the wizard of oz behind the curtain. Granted some or our history was during Covid but restrictions have been lifted and I still am only receiving bills without service. He never came up with a plan. Very inattentive, would request continuations, without completing any proceedings, most likely so he could get paid again, without doing anything. Terrible communication between his secretary and always unaware as to what was happening with my case prior to going before judge. Charges of $11,500 for two meetings and two attempt settlement interactions, which he was not attentive to my wishes at all, and would just move my trial date for unknown reasons leaving everyone waiting. First off I retained Mr. Dosh when I started a divorce and my case was very complex and kids were involved. Aaron was very compassionate towards me and my children and thanks to Aaron I still retain ownership of my home and have my two kids 50/50, only because of Aaron this was obtainable. This negative review I'm reading is obviously lacking any merit there is definitely more to the story that is left out. At the end of the day the only reason why we get divorces are because of our own poor life decisions we make. Egotistical, high-priced, argumentative and not extremely knowledgeable Aaron cannot compete in skills with his retired attorney father. His lack of knowledge in the family law arena is amazing, not to mention it's always about Aaron and his ego. Aaron also lacks compassion for the client, your situation and the child involved. The client will never be right; even when the client is right in court, Aaron will never admit it. He will however charge you for his error and his time while making the error. Aaron is extremely overpriced. You pay his assistant along with him to review your case and answer your questions; so therefore you are charged double. You prepare your own documents, per his specific request & direction; then he charges you to plagiarize them along with the charge for his assistant to prepare them. His relationship with the court and other colleagues is overstated an underrated. Do not hire this attorney unless you don't want to get the positive outcome you desire and you want to spend $100,000 getting nowhere. There are similar reviews on other sites. Do yourself a favor and check them all out. Advice in this small town and in the El Dorado County family court system, is to hire someone who is not part of the clan, yet still practices in family law within this county. El Dorado County is still operating under the good old boy network. Many of the good old boy's days have come and gone, yet they still continue to represent. Updated: I have to agree with Tina this Attorney seems very hungry to feed his ego. He and his colleagues refer to "most of his clients as idiots". Sorry let me correct myself. Not idiots but refers to his client base as "dumb". I viewed both his colleagues and himself making those very statements online. That to me is a red flag. One would think Mr. Dosh's response to my review below is not in line with the code of ethics for an Attorney. Giving out details in his response regarding his clients case such as " I'm making threats because of representation" would be breaking attorney client privilege. True he does not represent me, but he represents my Husband who I'm still legally married to. I have been privy to what you could say is a front row seat to him in action. Though given the time I had to observe him during my interactions with him when he served me paperwork, and then in court in front of the Judge, he tried to come off as intimidating. It seems he's not sure of what he's doing. For being an Attorney and supposed law expert in the legal arena he didn't seem very familiar with family law. He told my soon to be ex-Husband that he would just put a lien against my house for his legal fees. I am half owner and would have to approve such a thing. My Husband has no funds and can not afford his representation. If he is desperate enough to think he can try and put a lien on MY house and have free reign to bill. I am beyond pleased with this office! To put into perspective I have had two prior experiences with law offices that were from what I was told "typical". The most recent one was paid a retainer to just look over the paperwork I filled out myself and returned to them; after a few back and forth emails and a phone conversation I had found out the whole retainer was spent. Out of spite I went to Aaron and within the same day of the appointment with him his office: filled out the documents for me, mailed the documents to the courthouse and once returned served my daughter's mother the paperwork for a third of the retainer fee from the other office in Rocklin that accomplished zero in moving towards a court date. I am not looking forward to court or the drama surrounding it but it seems the right choice in a law office can make the situation less painful. My search for an attorney who could clearly and fairly represent my legal issue in El Dorado county was not easy. I visited several attorneys, each who cautioned me to "shop" Ron Dosh so he couldn't fight against me. It gradually dawned on me it might be in my best interests to have this attorney on MY side...it was one of the best decisions I have made. Ron Dosh is brash, outspoken, incredibly quick with repartee and equally quick with criticism. If you, the client, have erred you will soon hear about it with no holds barred. The saying "He doesn't suffer fools gladly" was written for him. This is no secret,.He will tell you this the first meeting should you be fortunate enough to have him take you on as a client. As time passed other qualities, far more subtle and certainly not blatantly "advertised" by him became apparent. There was the time when he was double booked. He had a choice. He could go to my hearing or go to a very lucrative deposition in Sacramento. He didn't "pawn me off" on an associate, rather he honored his commitment to me because he knew how important his presence was in my case. I guess he lost a lot of money that day but he certainly proved himself to live by ethical, honorable values. He told me at our initial meeting that I would learn how to manage the case, become independent and able to stand on my own two feet. All this has come to pass. At that time his high expectations seemed unrealistic. It never would have happened if he held my hand, patted me on the head and submitted a fat bill for services rendered. His predictions have all come to pass. He has been honest with me every step of the way. Honesty, integrity, high expectations to succeed...hmmm doesn't sound like your typical lawyer does it? That is because he goes against any stereotype you may have about lawyers...and I can't imagine anyone better in my corner fighting the good fight. read more

So I had just found out that all the time and effort I had put in to my child support case had not been filed properly on Friday with hearing scheduled Monday morning. I have no money for an attorney and just needed to ask a few questions. I had not retained an attorney and just stopped by Mr Dosh's office to see how much I needed to pay for a few questions? I was told 1/2hr consult would cost me $100., which isn't too outrageous but that's all the money I had. I asked if I could possibly pay $50? but the secretary denied request. I again called later that day begging for a short time at $50... again denied by secretary. Then, by some small miracle, Mr Dosh phoned me back, stating he had heard my pleas and although he doesn't normally do this, would offer a bit of advice at no charge!
