Our daughter, who was familiar with the Athens area (she graduated from Ohio U.) told me about Sundown Garage. We quickly got a hotel room ( it was Father's Day' so not much was open). I called and left a message (they didn't open until 9M on Monday) and I called again the next morning. I was able to get the car down to them and spoke with Danny and Will. Will drive me back to our hotel, stopping at a grocery store on the way back to our hotel so we would have some food. The next day he picked me up and drove me down to Athens to pick up my car. This is the kind of service you hope for in our country, but is so rare. I thought the cost of the repairs was more than reasonable. I have always liked Athens (I grew up in Youngstown, but moved 8 times with my jobs) and if I was beginning retirement I might consider moving here, but I am almost 78. He gave me a quote of $3,000+ to replace the engine. However, he recommended that I junk the car. He said he'd give me $350 for it and would haul it to the junk yard. I agreed, thinking the car wasn't worth another few thousand dollars since I had already put in over $1,000 at his shop. That was a few months ago. Today I drove by and saw the same car for sale. I stopped in and asked him how much he wanted for it. He told me, "Whatever I can get." The point of the story is that this guy either lied to me or he's trying to sell a hunk of junk. Steve and his shop are not trustworthy. Avoid them.

Anyways, I just got out of Pomery and my car dies on me in the middle of nowhere. This was the closest repair shop to where I was broken down. Luckily, there were no other cars being repaired when my car as brought into the shop and the two mechanics went right to work on my car. The gas pump (which was broken) needed to be ordered from another shop, but that came quickly. I was only 2 hours into a 9.5 hour trip, and am gratefully that both mechanics (rather than just one) worked on my car and the part was in quickly. I was out within an hour and a half of my car being brought in. Cannot expresses my gratitude during a very stressful part in my trip.

Totally undependable service! Do not trust anything Mr. David Rollins tells you! I could have spent my time renting a dozer and recovered my skid steer first day to save flood damage if I weren't waiting on a dishonest man! I also think he dislikes Soldiers because I told him I only had three days left of my leave to finish my farm work and can't finish until I get unstuck which he didn't care putting other jobs in front of me the following morning after leaving me hanging the night before when he had no intention of coming and was home in bed while I waited up till midnight!
