Well, that was me over 50 years ago except I never lost interest. I've been keeping fish and visiting fish stores around the country for my entire life. The people from World Of Fish who started RiverShore Aquariums have done a great job. Located not far from the original World of Fish, RiverShore has clean tanks, friendly and knowledgeable staff and they are super keyed in on planted tank setups. These days my tanks are relatively simple just to keep things easy, rocks and driftwood mostly, but I've been wanting to do a planted tank for a while. I know the basics but had some questions on substrate, plant selection and lighting for what is basically going to be a freshwater nanotank. The staff person who helped me was super knowledgeable, answered my questions and gave me some good advice for getting started. They had a good selection of different kinds of gravel as well as an assortment of driftwood and rocks. I liked that they have a table where you can do a little aquascaping trial and error before you make a final selection. The fish were high quality and appeared healthy. Most were smaller species suitable for planted tanks. I even discovered a new species that I had never heard of - anchor catfish. Super cool and perfect for my little nanotank. I know enough about fish and have been to enough fish stores to know which ones are really good. Rivershore is at the top of the list if you live in the Twin Cities, and especially if you're interested in giving planted tanks a try. Even if its plants aren't your thing or you are new to the hobby, I'd checkout Rivershore for your first aquarium.

Rivershore Aquariums is that friend: All the tanks are SO clean, and so perfectly lit, and all the fish are ready for their closeups. It's like an aquatic Parade of Homes in there -- 0% chance of the "Oh gosh, that fish looks so sick, should I mercy-buy it & set up a hospital tank & try to save it? Or should I not give this place my money?" experience. You should definitely give this place your money. They also sold me the sweetest, most industrious little pleco I've ever had in my life. I bought her as a bristlenose pleco, but she's secretly some kind of Turbo Pleco -- as in, my tank gets direct sunlight (can't be avoided), and it had the algae to match, but a week after I brought my new plec'ling home, I found myself asking a visitor, "Hey, you didn't clean the inside of the 55gal while you were here, did you?" (Spoiler: No, I do not have tank-cleaning houseguests. I just have a magic pleco.)

It's pretty well organized with a party host helping you move the group of kiddos from one room ("arena") to another so they get the chance to play on inflatables in two different areas before heading to the party room for snacks, cakes, and presents. It was a nice touch that the party hosts takes photos that get shown on the tv in the party room - the kiddos were happy to see themselves on the tv. The rolling coat rack is a great idea for keeping everything together as we move from one room to another. While they have several inflatables, they seemed to be pretty similar and could use an upgrade to bring more variety if they can. The carpet also seemed pretty old and there is a fairly strong smell of dirty shoes and socks. Overall, I think this is a good place for a birthday party for kiddos.

We have tried making sushi at home before but always felt like something was missing or we would struggle with certain aspects of the process. However, many of the people in the course had never made sushi before so this was a great class for beginners of all skill levels! Besides the sushi rice & tempura shrimp tails being pre made and some of the sauce ingredients being pre-portioned out, we made all of the other filling ingredients! We started by learning the best way to julienne a cucumber for sushi rolls & then how to slice up an avocado. Once that was done, we made a marinade for each of our fresh tuna steaks and were able to sear them to our liking! Once all of our ingredients were prepped, we rolled two different sushi rolls, one with shrimp & one with tuna and both were so tasty. What I truly loved was that everyone had their own ingredients to make their own two rolls. This allowed each of us to not only have an abundance of food at the end, but we also got to test our own skills out and learn from hands on experience. I can't wait to bring these new skills to life in my own kitchen. We also got a miso soup at the end which was amazing. This was money well spent and I'm looking forward to more classes in the future!

I was so excited to host my son's birthday party at this location. I expected that we would have a dedicated table for the duration of the event. Instead, we were instructed to place the cake and presents on a rack near the front entrance, which did not feel secure or appropriate for a birthday party setup. With a 5pm start time, I anticipated pizza being served around 6pm, especially for a group of 7-year-olds who hadn't eaten since lunch. We were told the pizza would not arrive until 7pm and that the timing could not be adjusted. My parents even offered to pick it up themselves or provide an additional tip for earlier delivery, but both options were declined. We were then told we could pay an additional $35+ to have the pizza made onsite, which was confusing given what was included in the package. Additionally, the staff were not particularly friendly or accommodating. We did not receive the souvenir ICEE cups, the included 90-minute jump pass for the birthday boy, or the emailed receipt after payment. While the kids did have fun, the overall party experience did not meet my expectations. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to improve communication, organization, and customer service moving forward.
