I had the pleasure of visiting in May and the Abbey Gardens was so beautiful. The flowers were in full bloom and the squirrels were out running around. The gardens were so peaceful and very pretty. I highly recommend a visit. read more

This beautiful park is right by the centre of Bury St Edmunds and is enjoyed by locals as well as tourists. The floral displays are forever winning national awards and the grounds are meticulously tended. In addition to the formal displays, there is also a great playground and riverside area which is a favourite of young families feeding the ducks. A wonderful, peaceful and expansive green space in the heart of Bury. Equally perfect for sightseeing (the ruins of the old abbey, the aviary) or just kicking back on a summer's day with an ice-cream (hangover optional), the gardens offer a bit of peace and tranquility in the middle of the bustling town. Me and my family love coming here in the summer. Its a nice large gardens with toilets and baby changing facilities. An ice cream kiosk as well. The gardens themselves are very well preserved and are clean all year round. There are a lot of ruins from the abbey that use to be there, which the kids love climbing over and looking round. At the far end of the gardens is a nice size playground for the kids with some slightly unusual bits like a roundabout where you have to sit on it and peddle like a bike, but you do have to careful as there is a river that runs along side park although this is fenced off. read more
