We definitely made the right choice with Caraway. From the moment we walked in to visit we knew…read morethat this would be the place for mom. Tina and all of the staff are genuinely concerned and provide excellent care for all of the elderly living there. They know every person not only by name but also seem to understand all of the personality traits that make up an individual. They have top notch communication with family members and the ratio of caregivers to clients living there is very small compared to most places. There are 16 individuals in each building ( there are 2 ) and the aides always seem to know exactly what is going on. The kitchen is in the front as you walk in with a chef preparing delicious meals and they seem more than happy to adjust the menu to accommodate. Moms clothes and sheets were always clean and they don't lay around in a hospital gown all day. They are up and dressed to attend meals at the dining table , sit on the huge front porch facing the woods or work puzzles/ do activities. There was never a problem with medications as they arrange pre-packaging with the pharmacy and have a PA visit each week for individual medical needs. No matter what time you pop in it is always odor-free , quiet ,clean and calm. Moms room had a door to the back deck facing the woods with a large window as well so her room was well lit. ( they have private rooms and semi private ). I would definitely recommend the private rooms simply because they can have more of their own furniture, pictures and belongings to make it more like home. If there isn't one available you can get on the waiting list and for us it worked out fine. The overall take home message is of all the places we looked at ( 10 total in 3 counties ) Caraway has an overall feel of the comforts of home with the security of knowing excellent care is provided at all times. If I could give 10 stars I would.

My mother has been at Caraway Assisted Living for 5 months now. It's a small place with only 16…read moreresidents. They make all their food right there. They take good care of them, and I'm very happy with this place. They have a great staff. They listen to your concerns and they leave you alone when you come to visit. But if you want them to answer questions, they answer questions. They're very responsive. They have single rooms and shared rooms. They do not have many activities, but it's adequate for the residents that they have. The place is a little older, but it's very clean and well-maintained. It always smells good there.

Khashy and Nicole's team at Ma Maison gets an A+ in my book. Took my dad in during a critical time…read moreand made him feel like family until the end of his life. Tried 2 other big corporate facilities in the area and Ma Maison was the only one that truly made us feel as though he was really part of a family. Smaller houses with less than a dozen residents each made our experience there during the end of his life memorable. I'm grateful for the care and personal attention my father received and recommend that you consider Ma Maison before shelling out the big bucks to a bigger (and IMHO less "personable") facility. Even my teenage son said that he felt the caregivers at MaMaison were nicer to his grandfather than at the other 2 facilities he lived at over the last 2 years!

My family can't say enough good things about Ma Maison. Mom previously resided in a small private…read moreroom in a large, high end facility with a good commons area and impressive dining facility. After about 9 months, she needed more help and that help was not there (even though she had been moved to the lowest level on the 3 Level care ladder). Yes, she had a pendant/call button but the response was VERY poor. She constantly complained and the family finally monitored the call response and the response time was often hours (no kidding). It was a good place as long as you could handle your own bathroom needs and could get out of bed and were generally able to navigate without help. Ma Maison is a small, home type facility with about 15 residents in each of 3 homes. Bedrooms are situated around a common area that is used for dining, TV viewing, recreation, etc. When not sleeping, Mom was almost always moved into that common area and not left alone in her room. The staff interacted very well with the residents. They have a similar problem with staff turnover that all of the other Assisted Living facilities have but the owner is a "hands on" person who knows his staff as well as the residents. I was a little surprised when I first walked into the place after being used to the more high end facility, but that quickly faded. It's clean and well run and you can't go wrong in placing your loved one there. Overall, I would say our experience was pushing a 5 on a 5 star rating.
