Our group felt bad for the team serving us even though we had to wait over an hour for our food to come out. Despite its history, it seems like a local place, like where locals come in for their Saturday afternoon beer and hang. I found the food to be just ok and the service to be inattentive. I also ordered a local beer, that I had to clarify with them was from the area, not just a generic Belgian beer. You're really going for the atmosphere and the history. It's like they can tell you're an outsider/tourist and treat you as such, which is a strange choice, in my opinion, because they have this reputation that likely draws in the tourists. I'm not beer drinker but I did stop by to try their beef stew also known as Vlaams Stoofvlees. Wheeeeeew baby. Their gravy sauce for the stew is rich and thick. It was an interesting twist for me to eat a chicory salad. Never have I ever. Yet, it was earthy and tasty. Great health benefits too. The waiter was quick to come take our orders. The drinks came out quickly and were delicious. We ordered several rounds while we were there. The atmosphere was great. When in Belgium, antwerpen is my second home and I love all of the different wonderful places that my friends take me: pomme gritted, the rooden hoot and so many other wonderful and crazy spots, but by far my favorite is the red light district! I just love windowshopping! A word of caution to the guys be careful of the Duval beer and be wary of the window dressings in the red light district as most of them are dudes...
