Once the parts all arrived, 2 weeks for a damn downrod fans took 2 days Amazon is crazy, We made the appt and Jerry picked up all the parts he needed and showed up. We worked in a heated attic, I needed a fan to keep him cool, but we got all the wiring done. The fans where installed in a cooler environment, but that attic was super hot. I now finally have a ceiling light in 2 bedrooms that both have fans on them. First time in 35 years of living here. Great job. Might have another job in a few months that might be harder than this one.

Tyler came this morning all alone and honestly, I was not sure if he could manage the haul of the big, commercial desk. Not only did he do this courteously, I learned I should not doubt a professional as he was able to move this big and heavy desk alone from the 2nd floor! Having to hire a slate roofer in the Allentown area (rather than relying on our old one in another…read morearea) turned out to be a re-education about the difficulty of finding a reputable and responsive roofer. In all, I made five phone calls to try to line up estimates on having slates replaced. Two never bothered to return the call. One called back 3-4 days later. Another called back 2 days later. (That guy, the Coplay, not Bensalem Romano, said he "doesn't do" estimates on slate replacements.) Just one called back that very day, and boy, did we luck out - J & M Roofing. We already knew the rough going price of slate replacement and J & M was right in the pocket. The boss, Greg, was a charming and down to earth guy and his son (he has two in the business with him) made a point of stopping by swiftly and taking pictures that were emailed to us to show exactly what needed replacing. Greg has been in the business a long time and knows how to ration his time. Quicker jobs like ours get reserved for days of iffy weather and weekends, and indeed, the following weekend he and one son and one helper showed up and got the job done in short order. The job was done just recently so I can't tell you about durability. I can tell you that we were happy with the speed of response, and that all the workers were personable and cleaned up afterwards decently. Throughout the process, Greg was a good and consistent communicator too. If you're looking for an experienced roofer - and one who knows slate - definitely include J & M Roofing in your considerations.

He didn't overcomplicate the project or load me up with roofing jargon like other contractors did. Their quote came in customized to our project and was built to have no large "extra material " surprises when the project closed. They were always communicative and friendly about the project. When they encountered a situation that was abnormal, they walked me through the issue and offered resolutions that would've cost them money. They seem to be stand-up craftsmen who want to do a good job at all costs and don't treat their customers like just another number. If you are going to invite anyone to do work on their home especially on your roof, they are the type to get.

Sad to say I am extremely disappointed. They damaged our new dishwasher, didn't tell us. A huge…read morescratch because they didn't screw in a bolt all the way. Then they tried to make it our job to fix it and call the manufacturer ourselves. 4 months later and it's still not fixed. Placed the tub too far away from the facet the water filled half in the tub and half out into the floor! Charged us $1250 to place our tub (too far away yes). It drained soooooooo slow and they wanted to charge us $1500 more to fix it. Forgot to put the drain pipe to our water filter into the pipe and flooded our basement TWICE! Damaged our stuff both times. Didn't hook up the 3rd line to our washing machine and the first time we used it water leaked EVERYWHERE. Everything we purchased they didn't know how to install but the options they provided were cheap low quality. They installed our Kraus garage disposal but it leaked immediately. They said it was the brand and would only fix if we paid $600 for the generic brand that they provided. Plus we had to eat the cost of the one they installed incorrectly. We were told there would always be a master plumber on site but an apprentice did ALL the work 95% of the time alone or with a student. Installed the pipes under the sink in a way that you couldn't utilize the cabinet AT ALL. They fixed it but only after we asked, why it was installed that way in the first place is beyond me and I'm not a plumber. We bought Kohler bathroom fixtures from Kohler directly and they needed us to replace the diverter valve and shower head because they broke the diverter during install and honestly I think they just didn't tighten the shower head right but it leaked so they told us it was bad. Had to have them come back out to adjust the shower knob because it was installed in a way that it couldn't fully turn on, it was being stopped too soon. Then we had to have them out again to fix the temperature within the fixture because it wouldn't allow it to turn on all the way hot. Charged an arm and a leg to install the toilet... within a few days it was rocking. Bolts weren't in place. Had them come fix. It was rocking immediately after they left, I honestly don't think they didn't anything. Still rocks now. The list goes on. We spent (they charged us) a lot of money doing a whole house rebuild with addition. The quality of work at the end of the day was poor. We made the mistake of paying in full for the work. Would not recommend! Definitely would not recommend if you plan to buy your own stuff for them to install and their options are cheap/low quality which they charge you more than you pay for the highest end.

Hesitant due to some difficult times, she said she would reach out when she could. Unbeknownst to her the person who recommended him, who was currently doing work at the house, let Dan know that things have been difficult. Dan proactively reached out to her to ask if he could come take a look at least. Dan ended up going above and beyond for her and was a true blessing in her time of difficulty. Although never meeting Dan in person I can say that he is a stand up honest guy and if more had similar values the world would be a nicer place. My husband texted him a few times, to make sure he had the correct email address. When that didn't work, I texted him and then finally found an email for him and sent a sternly worded email to him. Finally I was able to get an answer back, and after a little bit longer had gotten the proposal. We had to send it to our landlords for approval, and once we had that we sent it back to John to get things moving. That was sometime around July I believe. I did understand that he was working on other projects, and tried to respect that. So I didn't overload him with messages or emails. But when sometime went by, and we hadn't heard anything. I sent I believe two more emails to him asking when we can finally get our stuff done as we did everything he had asked. And we have heard nothing from him, it is 11-20-25 today. I think I sent the last email in beginning of Oct. And nothing, nothing at all. He apparently I have figured decided not to help us, and just forgot to let us know. All I can figure is our project was too small, not as exciting I am sure as other projects he might get. If you need something done quick, and not too complicated don't bother with him. He doesn't communicate, and he doesn't bother to tell you when he has decided not to handle your project taking months out of your time in which you could have been reaching out to someone else to help you.
