I've heard lots of good things about Dr. Bernard, so I switched to her recently. I went in for a routine visit, and the visit ended up getting canceled as I arrived because of a delivery. I stuck around, hoping someone would see me, and she was able to come back (even though she didn't have to). My appointment did not go as planned and even though it was a morning appointment, she ended up staying after 5pm to do additional testing and come up with a plan. She took my situation very seriously and got me in to surgery that same week. After surgery she took time to go over everything with me and explained everything in greater detail than I typically get. At every interaction, she went above and beyond.

The rating is only a three because she tends to want to "try out the latest thing" on you, without really understanding it. Here is what I mean: I went to see her with some shoulder pain. She had just returned from a conference in Las Vegas and she got excited and told me she had just the thing. She did not touch my shoulder or arm. She took some kind of device and thumped it very hard on my collar bone. Then she showed me how to do it myself. It hurt a little, but much of the chiropractic work does hurt a little at first. I had to travel to Montana the next day. I did the thumping thing several times as instructed during the next couple of days and only served to make my collar bone sore along with my shoulder. I ended up going to see a masseuse in Montana. With just a quick look at my range of motion, she dug into my shoulder, found a knot and rubbed it out. Because of that experience, I didn't go back to see Dana. She found out from someone else later why I didn't come back and sent me an odd letter telling me how disappointed she was with me ... this virtually guaranteed I would never return.

When my primary doctor referred me to Boone Health Pain Management in Columbia, MO, I was a bit skeptical, but also desperate for relief. After my first appointment last week, I can genuinely say that I feel that I have found a team that genuinely cares and has the knowledge to help me. This gives me hope for a better quality of life with less pain. From the moment I walked in, the experience was impressive. The front desk staff were welcoming, the wait time was incredibly short, and the initial nurse was professional and kind. Then I met my pain management doctor (Annie Metzner), she completely exceeded my expectations as she seems knowledgeable, was very thorough, and took the time to listen to my long history of pain and me trying to convey my level of pain (what probably seemed like a grown man crying like a baby). I detailed to her my chronic low back pain, fibromyalgia pain, and severe joint pain in my knees and elbows. She listened patiently, asked me a-lot of questions, took detailed notes, and most importantly took immediate action. Right away, she ordered X-rays of my knees, scheduled me for physical therapy, and booked me for knee injections. For the first time in a long time, I have a profound sense of hope. Getting referred to Boone Health Pain Management and being assigned to Dr. Metzner and her team looks to be a God sent gift, for me. I am hopeful. Their initiative-taking and caring approach made me feel seen, heard, and cared about. I am genuinely optimistic about a future with less pain. Dr. Kiss was kind, thorough and made sure I felt comfortable. She answered all my questions and made seemed like she genuinely cared. After my appointment, I received a letter in the mail with a synopsis of my appointment and her suggestions to help with the health concerns I had. She said she had tried to call, but couldn't reach me and wanted to make sure she followed up. I was so impressed by this gesture. I have never had a doctor send me a letter in the mail. I will surely be back and am glad to have such a caring doctor!
