As I originally wanted to rent from Luzcar in Lagos over the 1st of May and was rejected due to floods of people who had been faster than me, I walked just down the street for 50 m close to Lagos Marina where I came about the inviting-looking car rental that had bikes and scooters for rent as well, standing in front of the garage. As I walked into the office I was immediately greeted by two ladies who both seemed very well spoken both in Portuguese and English and made no fuss. Easy car rental deluxe. Patricia offered me, right from the start, the cheapest option that would still include the "Teilkasko" insurance on the road. For a 24 hour rent, 40 Euros, which is Un-Beat-Able! For an additional 8 Euros, I went for the Vollkasko, the careful German that I am. I got a small car, filled with gasoline and she even showed me around the whole car to make sure we both agree on the little marks in the car paint. She even made sure I knew about the fact that the highways are going to be tolled, but that I would be able to get whereever I wanted to go in the Algarve on the national roads anyway. And by the way, the unlimited mileage is included! I have seriously never felt more safe when renting a car, because normally, you never know about hidden costs here and there. Here, the staff is straight to the point, well-educated and supportive. His pride and knowledge for the history of the area made learning about it completely captivating. He is super smart, talks about everything under the sun in addition to teaching about Lagos and surrounding areas, and it felt like we were hanging out with an old friend all day. Plus, the lunch alone that we had on the bike tour was among the best things we did all trip just by itself. Quinta do Alem was also wonderful! We brought two bottles home to help us celebrate our one year anniversary (we went to Portugal for our honeymoon), and it will be tough to wait the year to enjoy it again.
