Because I was under time constraints I paid the $1,000 retainer fee but I was so annoyed with little faith in their practice, less than 12 hours later I decided not to go with them. They did not fully refund me. They attempted to charge me $80 for the free consultation and say it was a credit card processing fee. I had to go through my bank and notify them of the unauthorized charge in order to get it refunded. The law in PA states the vendor must notify on the receipt and notify the purchaser if there will be a fee to process the credit card. Don't trust these people! It's the principal.

After I returned, I received paperwork in the mail stating that due to my attorney's and my absence at the hearing I was found guilty of all three violations. I called Coover & Associates in Carlisle and they said that my attorney (Brian) was no longer with the firm which is why did did not show up. They gave me two choices: Hire another attorney or have Coover & Associates still handle the case. I choose to allow Coover & Associates to handle the case against my better judgement and I paid another $500 to have my appeal taken to the Cumberland County Court House. This is when I met Michael Howard. He seemed like a nice guy, but like most attorneys they want you to take a plea deal so that they don't have to do any real work. On the day of my hearing I was scheduled at 9am, like all 50 other "criminals". We sat there, and sat there, and Mr. Howard did nothing to try to get my case moved up since typically those with council are the first dockets to go. Right around 1pm the judge stopped all of the cases for the day because the court house was closing so that they could have a welcome ceremony for Cumberland County's newest corrupt judge. So not only did I waste an entire day, but my witness also missed an entire day's work. After my hearing was rescheduled for another day, Mr. Howard told me that next time he would have me come in around noon so that we did not have to wait around all day like the previous time. Well, that was not the case as he had me show up at 9am again and sit there all day and wait. This was fine though as this game Mr. Howard more time to try and make me take a plea deal. After everyone had left the court room, my docket was finally called and my trial began. Mr. Howard said that the Shippensburg PD's grainy photos of my car's tint on a cloudy day were better evidence to help my case over the photos I took in which you can clearly see into my vehicle. My photos were not even submitted as evidence, and I was found guilty of over $1,000 in fines. Fast forward almost 30 days. I called the court house several times to setup a payment plan and they kept telling me that they had not received my paperwork yet so they couldn't do anything. Finally 18 days after my hearing I receive paperwork in the mail stating that I have 30 days from the date of the hearing to have my fines paid in full. This gave me 12 days to come up with $1,000. When I called the court house to set up a payment plan, Kim Mayberry was extremely rude and hung-up on me several times, refusing to help. I called Mr. Howard to let him know that they were not allowing me to setup a payment plan because of the judge's order. Mr. Howard said that he had never heard of that and he knows of people with $25,000 in fines paying $25 a month. He said he would go over to the court house and speak with them. On 2/2/2020 he called me stating, "You didn't tell me you were calling those ladies names." and I explained to him that I only did that after being hung up on three times. He told me that he had no obligation to me after my case was over and that I didn't pay him a single dollar for taking my case. He's right, I didn't pay him... I paid the firm he WORKS for $350, then another $500 to the court because my initial attorney from Coover & Associates didn't show up. Now on the 24th I am going to jail for up to 6 months and being put on work release because I don't have a spare $1,000 sitting around to pay Cumberland County's extortion fees because the Shippensburg Police are in fear for their lives over tinted windows. America is a police state and the attorneys at Coover & Associates are a key part in ensuring it stays one. Avoid them like the plague.
