Both are beautiful but bouquet is my preference - they start at around $60 and are happy to work to your preferred colour palettes. Delivery in the area is only $5 and they are happy to do same day delivery (provided they are not craaaazy busy). They also have a fantastic range of cards and some beautiful potted orchids. Their stock is limited, but there is normally enough to create a masterpiece that will bring tears to the eyes of the recipient. I like to tag along, as they can make up bunches to order, and for a guy on the move, I'm always using the visits as a good excuse to get gifts for all the staff who've done me favours in recent days. So our visit is a win win situation. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the shop is easy to access from the motorway, plus there is always parking right in front.

If the florist is unable to make a bunch to my design, then I would normally settle on a bunch that is of one sort of flower only, like yellow roses or just a basket full of poppies. Serena at Pretty Posies was full of advice and ideas, and she was more than helpful on a recent visit. She made up a bunch to my request, and also gave advice for a future purchase. This is a five star floral experience, and they're open on a Saturday, now that's convenient.

Not the best symbol of everlasting love. Get me something practical, like a frying pan any day. But most girls do like flowers. This is a nice little flower shop, that will certainly go some way into helping you dig your way out of that hole. The lady I talked to when I was in there was super helpful and friendly. And they had a good selection of nice fresh blooms, at not unreasonable prices (is fresh a word you can use when referring to flowers?) Outside on a table that had been set up they even had a selection of cute wee hair clips and headbands as well, so maybe include one of those to really sweeten the deal ( it really just depends on how much trouble you ARE in)

Of course you have to pay for the quality, but there's no need to be a cheapskate on your gift giving. They have quite a few chess sets for sale here, really beautifully crafted pieces and boards, especially the full table set. These chess sets are actually at quite a good price too, considering how it's so hard to find a good quality one in New Zealand. For the ladies there are some things, but like I said it is a small shop and unless your mum is keen on hunting and/or drinking whiskey I'd probably go somewhere else for her birthday present.

This is pretty accurate I thought. The gifts were the kind of cool things that could brighten up someone's day but certainly weren't essential. My absolutely favourite were the money tins. Each tin specified something that warranted paying a fine (putting a coin in the tin). I very nearly bought the farting one for my brother-in-law. Now that I'm home I wish I had. I might have to go back and get it - they were only $7!
