Given it's location and as Loch Lomond Shores is mainly aimed at tourists, most of the jewellery here is Scottish themed such as Rennie Macintosh or Celtic themed. I really liked the home wares and they had really nice mirrors and vases all at reasonable prices. Overall a nice shop to browse, the staff are friendly, it's well organised and it has a nice, reasonably priced selection of gifts.

Fifteen years ago Byres Road was full of individual wee shops like this; today it's all coffee emporiums and charity outlets. I discovered Owen Bissett when doing my Christmas shopping in December. It's not the sort of place that would normally attract me, but I was looking for a nice present for my sister, and their window display looked inviting, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I made that decision. The place is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of jewellery, bijoux, craft wares, designer knick-knacks and generally precious things (preeeeccccciouuusssss!). I soon found a lovely bracelet and necklace combo that my sister was delighted with, and would probably have ended up spending a lot more than I wanted to had not common sense kicked in. There's such a wide range of really unusual things in here, it is ideal if you're looking for that 'special gift' or just want a thing of beauty for yourself. I think my favourite items were the glass bowl sculptures with the natural wood stands - these large thick glass works appear to have been melted and poured onto driftwood or tree-branch tripods, so that they have flowed into the perfect shape for the support. I have no idea what I would use one for (and I couldn't afford one anyway), they were just lovely pieces of craftsmanship. A definite thumbs-up for the most original and unusual shop in Hyndland Street, if not the entire West End. Check it out - you're sure to find something you like.

There's something here for all budgets, which is a bonus. I bought a gorgeous necklace for myself a while back that people always comment on, and it only cost £10. Regardless of price, you can be assured that whatever you buy will always be top quality. Owen's window displays are always eye-catching and well thought out; I defy you to walk past and not at least stop for a good look! Displays are changed regularly, which is a great way to showcase the wide range of what's on offer. I highly recommend liking the shop on Facebook too, as it's an extension of the window displays. The service is always fantastic, and everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They'll point out things you might like or will leave you to browse the stock without being over-bearing. It's customer service done correctly, and it's refreshing to behold. It's a great place to go and treat yourself or a loved one, be it Christmas, birthdays or just for the sake of it. It's a truly unique store, and it's wonderful to see such a vibrant independent business thrive. I really can't sing the praises of this shop enough!

It certainly works as we were passing and just popped in for a quick look and of course ended up spending about 20 quid! Favourite buy - a Hallowe'en cat head with colour changing eyes and an LED multicoloured light bulb with rotating prism lens - instant disco ball in your living room! Now I love Tiger and I'm not totally sure why this is called Flying Tiger but it's pretty much the same as every other Tiger I've been to - cheap homewares/stationery kind of stuff which is really cute. Anyway, this is a cute wee place with some really funky gear. Located on the ground floor of Buchanan Galleries this store will definitely put a little bit of sparkle into our life. I have a few friends who adore Swarovski and have pieces dotted around their flats, my mum is also a big fan and has a few little crystal teddies to add to her teddy bear collection. I'm not into the ornamental Swarovski so much but I do really like the jewellery, I got a really gorgeous coloured crystal flower ring on holiday a few years ago that's really unusual and people always ask me where I got it from. At the moment they have a stunning set in the window, well, maybe not so much stunning as quirky. The star of this new collection is a little orange goldfish, with pop eyes and luxurious fins adorned with Swarovski crystal, he's even gold plated! The fish is featured on necklaces, rings, bangles, bracelets and earrings and the prices range from £50 - £170. I guess this style might be an aquired taste but if you're a fish lover or just like something a little bit different then it's ideal. Of course, you can also find more classic, subtle pieces that will go with every outfit and be completely timeless. I guess that's why I like Swarovski so much, they have ordinary, classic pieces but they also do off the wall quirky items too. The staff are very helpful in this branch and will be happy to let you try any of the items on.

I also like the Crystalline home accessories collection and have my eye on the gorgeous cake stand at the very reasonable price of £250!!! I have to admit though that while many of the figurines are cute they are also pretty naff and not to my personal taste. I find the Swarovski covered cross and heart pendants to be dated and tacky but that's just my personal taste. The staff in this branch are really helpful. One of the girls took about 20 different things out of the display cabinets for me to look at and I ended up not buying anything! She took it well though and never made me feel pressured to buy anything. While not everything in the store is to my personal taste I really recommend this Swarovski branch. There is something for every budget and the dazzling shine that comes from all the items makes you feel like you are get good quality for your money.
