Brunos Korvbar - Baguette Double -- with Kabanoss and Stockholmer

My husband had been searching for a unique but quality hotdog since we landed in Scandinavia. On…read moreour very last day, we stumbled upon Bruno's Korvbar. We got the Kabanoss, which is garlicky, peppery, and full of flavor. It's made with beef and pork and served in a fresh baguette, as all all their hot dogs- a big upgrade from the usual bun. We had it the traditional way: with a cold chocolate milk. Surprisingly, it works! Salty sausage and sweet milk? Don't knock it till you try it. Quick service, friendly staff, and a great stop for a simple, delicious meal. So glad we found this spot before we left Stockholm!

The best hot dogs are not actually found in America (for shame! ... and I can say this as someone…read morewho has lived in America for 25 years). Instead, they are found here in this specific hot dog stand. There are about 30 types of sausages to choose from. I got the Kabanoss and the Stockholmer - both very delicious, especially the Kabanoss. The menu is pretty extensive and detailed, so I would recommend familiarizing with it ahead of time to avoid FOMO in the event that you see a hot dog you might like better after placing your order or eating it already... as was the case when I saw the "Cheese Sausage" with peppers and Emmentaler while having food coma from the current hot dog. The baguette is toasted on the grill so it's nice and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. They also add a bit of sauerkraut and mustard. When I ordered the "Baguette Double" I didn't realize they doubled the number for thinner sausages, so I ended up with four! Friendly and helpful service, with a nice little enclosed seating area in the back which I enjoyed for a couple of minutes before having to escape. I love how family-friendly it is here, but when 4-5 toddlers from 3 families shriek so loudly that their voices break the sound barrier, that's when you know you gotta escape. P.S. Check out the pics I added -- for some reason, they are not linking to this review.

I decided to go here for lunch based on my Yelp search. We came in a little before they opened and…read moresat outside. There were two other families waiting already. Once they were open, it took a long time between us being given menus to finally getting our food- 50 minutes. They should've given us our side while we were waiting for the board. We ordered a side of salami and Swedish cheese and the hairy pig board. I enjoyed the side, but the board not so much. The board consisted of wild boar sausage with broche bun, wild boar taco, peppercorn fries, and wild boar lasagna. The board was quite heavy and salty. I didn't have enough stomach space to even try the taco. I did enjoy the fries, but it's not enough for me to want to return.

This place is tucked below street level and is very intimate and downright cozy with its low beam wood ceiling, wood tables in every cranny it can fit to accommodate guests, and a tiny little bar. You can find this place outside by the wooden sign with the boar on it, then simply peer down into the low window and if you see a hairy pig nomming on a sausage, congratulations! You're in the right place. We stopped in not long before closing time and that was probably the only reason we were able to get a much coveted table. The barkeep was nice and let us put in a quick order while also getting us drinks. Unfortunately for me, there were not very many gluten free tapa options on the menu, but there were a few naturally gf. The salami and sausages were thought to have gluten so I went with the smoked shell on shrimp, a cheese dip, and some salad with olives. I wasn't crazy about the smoked shrimp but the olives and cheese were good. The husband enjoyed a sausage in bun which he said was great. Overall we liked the vibe and I think if you can eat the locally sourced meats like my husband it's probably a pretty solid place. If you're gf or allergy you'll probably still be hungry at the end of the meal like I was.

One of Stockholm's worst malls just managed to become relevant. Not sure it will improve the…read moreshopping but the food scene here certainly has improved. Looking at what they have done here I think they will also bring in a lot of people just for the food. The new concept is in a sense similar to K25 in that they have brought together several good places in a food court and the design is also very similar to K25. There are plenty of seats but I can imagine that it will still get busy at peak times. The design is modern and I like that they shielded it a bit from the surrounding mall so the nice design does not have to clash with ugliness of the mall itself. The range of food offered is pretty good as well with Adam & Albin doing ramen, Magnus Nillson from Fäviken doing hot dogs, Claes from Nook doing Asian inspired food and Catenacci doing just good food as well as several others (there is a bakery, some kebab and some other stuff) The range of food, drinks and atmosphere will surely bring in the crowds here and prices are pretty decent so as a fast food option it is really good and a welcome addition to the food scene here.

My boy had the ramen, and though it didn't hold up to what's available in SF or Tokyo, it was tasty. I went for the white asparagus from Magnus Nillson, which is presented like a hotdog. The accompanying salad was the best I've had in Stockholm! Many places serve beer and wine. Water and wifi is available for free. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the Daniel Roo pastries will certainly appeal to everyone!
