I have been dealing with attorney Heisler since October 2023. I originally called him for an evication. At first he said oh yes we can get that knowing all the obstacles that existed. He is the most unprofessional Lawyer I've ever dealt with. He is always in a hurry rude and insensitive. Now it's April 18, 2024. still not concluded. The last thing he told me is to by a condo and lease to Dana. And that the subsidized rent will pay for common charge and property tax. I'm not sure why some of the negative reviews on here are deemed "not recommended" by Yelp and therefore not factored into Abram Heisler's overall rating. They should be, because this attorney is dishonest and incompetent. My father hired him to do a job, and he took the money, said he did what needed to be done, and never actually did it. This resulted major fines and penalties for my dad, of which he wasn't even aware he had incurred because he was never informed, and he was lied to about what had been done. It is an ongoing problem that has continued to get worse. For your own sake, stay away from this attorney. Hire literally anyone else. My dog could do as good of a job as this man did for my dad. I'm somewhat amazed (make that "shocked") at some of the positive reviews about attorney Heisler. He may be knowledgeable when it comes to the law, but his people skills are so sorely lacking that this poses an impediment to a successful client/attorney relationship. Twice I was referred to him for a housing matter and twice I tried to have a civil, intelligent conversation with him and wound up feeling utterly frustrated for my efforts. He is confrontational and extremely difficult to communicate with. It doesn't bode well when someone is constantly interrupting you mid-sentence. This man has serious attention deficit issues - constant interruptions and makes endless presumptive statements about your intentions without hearing the client. It was maddening! In both instances that I was referred to him I found it IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with this gentleman. He may be very smart when it comes to the law, but his communication skills are horrendous. He infers your intent without letting you finish a sentence. Attorney Heisler gave me some excellent advice when I was under the gun. He did it quickly and at no charge. However he is frightfully busy and that can lead to incompetence. Personal conflicts with wanting to help people and not being able to handle all the clients that turn to him has consequences. Anyone that has ever worked in pro bono climate knows there are just some cases that you must let go. Divine Providence must be permitted to handicap these cases. There are those who complain he didn't give them enough time. I suggest he talk to his Rabbi to resolve this conflict of wanting to aide everyone in need who can't pay. I will turn to him for an upcoming case. He may turn me down because I don't have much cash up front. Then I'm faced with where to go to find as knowledgeable a guy as he is. I have known Attorney Heisler for fifteen years, and he has handled several delicate, as well as difficult cases for myself and my family. He is one of the most hard working lawyers I know, and...I know A LOT of them, on top of it he is HONEST, and frankly, charges too little for the level of knowledge he possesses along with the exceptional service he provides. I have to also add that he is the MOST experienced housing attorney in Connecticut; in fact, at one time in court a Judge stated to my opponent in court while he was representing me that Attorney Heisler could WRITE the housing "book," as he has so much experience in this field, as well as how the appeals process works, that most every housing Judge that he deals with recognizes his exceptional knowledge in the field, and it was surprising to have a Judge, ON THE RECORD, say this in open court! I have yet to have any other attorney be held in such high regard from any Judge in my lifetime, and I have had plenty of attorneys, esp divorce and housing attorneys. He is courteous, hard working, and professional. He is a bit overwhelmed, unfortunately, sometimes, due to the amount of pro-bono work that he does, however, it is evident that he is still one of the FEW attorneys practicing today that is doing what he does...FOR THE RIGHT reasons, and NOT for the $$$. You will NOT find a better Attorney in the entire state of Connecticut to represent you. Another note of interest, in one case when he was representing me, the JUDGE asked him what the law was, and what would be the "forks" in the road that were possible should the Judge find in one manner or another; I have never in my life seen a Judge asking an attorney what possibilities exist once his/her decision was rendered before in my life. It speaks volumes as to his level of expertise, and fundamental knowledge of the laws of the state concerning housing matters. I hired abram heisler for an eviction case where I was being evicted from my affordable home, because it was slated for demolition for an apartment complex. With todays housing market I couldn't find any where to go, and needed to stick it out while i looked for housing. Mr. Heisler was recommended to me by 2 lawyers and a close friend. He was worth what he charged ten times over. He kept me in the house another year, and i got all my rent back for 2022 and a monetary settlement. He was knowledgeable, communicative, and receptive to what i needed from him. I wouldn't hire any other lawyer. And just to note other than the 2 lawyers and friend that recommended him, When i was at court I ran in to an old friends step father who is a lawyer, when I told him who was representing me he just said "You're in good hands", and to top it off he seems to have a great re pore with everyone at the courthouse. read more

Abram took 2 vacations during critical court time, leading to delays in court appearances. Barely listened to my concerns. In fact, Abram had the audacity to yell at me and wave his hand in my face. Dangerous Attorney. Check with the Attorney Regulation and Ethics people BEFORE you hire him. He borrowed money from me. Thousands. Started writing bad checks. Taking my calls and saying he would call back and then not only not calling but would block my calls fully knowing, because I told him, how upsetting this was to me. I mentioned the loans and behavior to his Ethics Board and found out he had been formally sanctioned for borrowing money and the same behavior with another client. I was kind enough to not make a formal written complaint but my calls did create more sanctions, which he blamed me for. He also broke a very private and personal confidence of one of his employees with me, and then he has the total Chutzpah to blame me for the problems that violation of confidence created. More recently he attempted to undermine my work with a nationally recognized psychiatrist by telling me the man did not know what he was doing??? In my experience, and apparently in those of some others here; Attorney Heisler can be a very good attorney, but he can also turn on you and really viciously attack and blame you for HIS screw ups.
