The atmosphere is fantastic, I have been several times just because, one to visit a friend who has a plot there, and a couple more to check out the sales of goodies (not only veggies and fruits but homemade cookies, etc). It is a lovely atmosphere of camaraderie and community. I found everybody to be super friendly and even got some goodies for free, just to be visiting. I think it makes a nice stop if you like to walk the streets of Golden Hill and see nature giving its fruits and see butterflies and smelling earth and freshness. The garden was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization back in 2009. This community garden provides a communal space where local gardeners can cultivate fruits and vegetables using eco-conscious gardening methods. My friend lives just around the corner from this garden. She joined a couple of years ago and has been saving so much money growing her own veggies. I am amazed at how "green" her thumbs are. I have been lucky enough to taste her lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, radishes, bok choy, and broccoli. In order to become part of this fun community, you just have to follow a couple of steps to obtain a plot.You must be an Encinitas resident to apply for a plot and you must complete and submit an application. From there, the membership leader will contact you regarding availability. Once you are approved, you will meet for a tour and plot assignment. Most of the plots are not too big, but provide enough room to grow a nice selection of veggies and fruits. Some gardeners even have a dedicated area growing beautiful flowers. I could not believe how big this community garden is and I love that directly across the street is the San Diego Botanical Gardens. I love how so many of the people involved share with each other their bounties of veggies and fruits with each other. A great way to meet new friends as well. Come grow your own and enjoy the fruits and veggies of your labor.

Willy Crespo is highly talented, having spent 30 years as a prison chaplain at The Tombs and at Riker's Island in New York City, as well as a hospital chaplain for a year. Willy is highly intelligent, yet not arrogant or cynical, warm, inviting, accepting, and well-versed in theology, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. The congregation is high-end and includes many retired priests, who often assist in many ways. The facility is beautiful, with a community garden, and prayer labyrinth. There's also a pot-luck brunch after the Sunday service!
