One had to cancel us. Paintbrush Adventures called us back about 24 hours after we called and left a message. No problem there. We set up a ride for the 2 of us. We found the place with no problem. We were greeted by a lady and 3 teen aged girls who all went out on the ride with us. There were a few dozen horses in the corral that all looked good. Horses were quiet and calm. The ride was along the river and parallel to the road. The area was in a wooded lot. 30 acres MOL. Lots of dead trees. The river was a nice touch. We were disappointed when it was just trails in a dead wooded lot. Nothing terribly scenic. No hills, no mountain scenes. Not exactly the Montana experience we were expecting. We called…read moreahead to make reservations and found that they had an opening at 5 pm (closed at 7 pm) so we reserved the 2 hour pass for $50/person. They emailed over the run of the mill liability release forms and we filled them out prior. When we arrived, we basically paid, stuck our belongings in a bin, and waited for an instructor to give us a safety lesson. They set us up with harnesses, gloves, and helmets. Then, they taught us how to use the two hook system. WOW. Was super impressed with the engineering on these things. I'm not a climber so this is probably normal but it was very interesting. Then they basically let you go have fun on the obstacles. There is an easy/medium side that takes you to the four(?) ziplines ending in a rappel drop and a medium/hard side that leads to the same zipline/drop. We were a group of four adults: two fit 30 year olds, a not so fit 20 year old, and a 65 year old. We were able to do both sides, including the zipline course twice, within the two hours. The hard obstacles were challenging but with patience they were doable. So very fun!

They offer lessons for first timers in their pond which does not require a license or you can head down to the boulder river and enjoy some of the best fishing in the area (license required). They offer other activities such as a Jeep ride, river floating, campfire dinners, and games (volleyball, horseshoes, and roping). There is a hot tub to soak your worries away in your spare time and lots of places to sit to take the beautiful views in. You will not go hungry during your stay here! The food is homemade, fresh and prepared for cowboys and cowgirls! Enjoy meals such as steaks, pastas, potatoes, brisket, full chicken, fresh veggies, seafood, salmon (fresh!), burgers prepared over a campfire, full breakfast spread of pancakes, eggs, bacon, homemade breads, muffin and more. We brought snacks with us that we purchased in big timber and did not touch them once so leave those in big timber and bring your appetite as they do not disappoint! The best part of our stay was the staff. This is a family run operation and it shows by the level of service they provide. I haven't ever experienced something quite like this before. The level of passion, care and concern they have for each one of us was so amazing. They just want each guest to have the best time and live their life to the fullest for the week they are at their property. There are no TVs, radios, cell phones so this is a time to truly disconnect. You can choose to get a phone card which will work in the main lodge for emergencies. The staff for the summer of 2019 hit it out of the park which is why all but two of the families were repeat guests who keep coming year after year. We can't wait to return to Hawley mountain and can't speak highly enough about this magical piece of the world.
