We were moving from 4 hrs away and needed an apartment ASAP, but we were also picky because, due to allergies, we couldn't have carpeting... and we were also not making much money, so we needed something inexpensive. We called Thelma, told her which day we'd be in town to look at apartments, and that woman spent six hours showing us places that fit our criteria. The thing about Thelma is that she wasn't just trying to get us to settle. She had honest discussions with us about what that apartment was like, and if we didn't want it, she didn't begrudge us. She hopped in her car and said, "Okay, I've got a whole list we can go through! Let's check out the next one." All of this effort over a rental! So when we were finally in the market to buy a few years later, we knew exactly who we wanted on our side. Thelma sent us listings, and any time we saw something on a drive or on realtor, we called her. She got back to us ASAP with information about the place and an appointment time to go see it. We felt secure in Thelma and knew that she wasn't wasting opportunities for us or not moving quickly enough-- an anxiety that is so natural when you're buying a home in a seller's market, as we were. We also trusted her sharp instincts when it came to knowing what kind of offers might be accepted on a home. Her accuracy was flawless. After looking at dozens of homes with Thelma (like I said, we're picky!), we finally got the perfect one for us. She helped us every step of the way, and that woman is SO GOOD at what she does! When we moved to Virginia back in 2011 we used Thelma Ratliff w New Century Realty. She showed us…read moreseveral rental homes to us. We ended up renting a home in Stephen's City VA and it was a nice home. This rental was actual one of her own listing too, so it was win win for her. Upon negotiations w the homeowners and us we asked for them to allow us to put a couple wooden steps outside of the sliding back door to the backyard and they agreed at the time we signed the rental contract. So when it came time to add the stairs they changed their mind and broke the lease terms. They ended up to be very hard to deal w too and became quite ugly to us. So both parties decided to cease the lease and we left and rented a great place w a great landlord. So our problem we had w Thelma Ratliff is she lied to us and said that she had a potential renter that wanted to come look at the house that we were leaving but what she did was bring the crazy landlord into the property without proper notice and consent. Very shady- although we had nothing to hide but we just felt like that was a very unprofessional, shady and just a plain slap in the face. The homeowner could have just asked us to come by.
