Maybe discuss payment terms prior to any work being performed as well? I was lied to and overcharged by 2.5 hours of labor for 2 workers. One worker (Journeyman) said they had to be at another job by noon - when we were standing in my yard next to their work van. Other worker (Apprentice) said he had a dentist appointment at noon, because a tooth fell out the night before - when we were in the kitchen/laundry room inside the house. They arrived between 9:15-9:30am & left around 11:40 am. They told their boss that they were here until around 1:30-2pm, apparently. That is a blatant lie. I'm being charged additional (double) for labor NOT performed at my home. Adding insult to injury, the apprentice also left exposed wiring and an open hole in our laundry room, in their hurry to leave before noon. When I offered to send photos of the way it was left, boss declined. The workers lied to me and are still lying to their employer. He said he's taking their word for it, regardless of what the truth is. I have a witness that was also here working that morning, confirming the actual time J & M employees spent at our place - 2.5 hours. Being charged for 5 hours. Happy to pay for the materials and ACTUAL labor - for 2.5 hours. Will dispute until I receive corrected invoice. Will not pay any additional "fees" or "penalties" for standing my ground. Basically tried extorting me for hundreds of dollars above actual services/materials rendered and threatened collections if I didn't just accept it & pay. Even implied they'd repossess the materials used. Refused to communicate or work with me in ANY way. Even sent back a check when I DID attempt to send money, then promptly turned me into collections for the fraudulent amount, while we were still in dispute and seeking resolution. Retaliation for me filing a complaint with the BBB? Hmmmm. The timing would suggest so. I'm presently preparing to file formal complaints against this company for fraud and possibly even a civil suit, since it's now impacting my credit score as well. The 2 J & M employees involved would absolutely be committing perjury in court, if they were to continue to claim that they were here working past 11:40am that day. Period. My witness and I would even be willing to take a lie detector test, if it were somehow possible. How about the 2 workers involved? Would they pass the test? I can't help but wonder - Where WERE they for that extra 2+ hours that I'm being charged for? Hope it was worth it.
