I'm probably exactly like you in that I have always wanted to hire a guy in a gorilla costume to deliver a singing telegram. You have too, right? Anyway, I planned a retirement dinner for my in-laws in Folsom last night and I finally had my opportunity. I did a quick Internet search and found Absurd Entertainment. 10:30pm, I made my reservation and paid online easily. The next day I got a confirmation call and went over the details with Joseph. We arranged to have the singing gorilla and his very nice announcer/handler Marion meet us outside the restaurant for the big song so that the in-laws could enjoy their dinner afterward without feeling embarassed. He even gave me some great business advice (about his online booking system -which is easier and more user friendly than mine). On the night of the party, Joseph (in full gorilla regalia including a pink tutu!) and Marion showed up at 7 on the dot, did a fantastic performance, brought balloons and even gave a banana to my three-year-old son, who was totally enthralled. They both hammed it up and cracked everyone up. Marion even took pictures. They were friendly, professional, talented. I'm already plotting my next guerilla gorilla performance attack as soon as the right occasion comes along, though I see from their web site that they also do characters and magic shows for kids' parties. They were professionals when they called me back and then when the called me the day before the party. Both entertainers arrived early and stayed in profesional mode till it was time to have fun. I was already scatterbrained from preparing for the party and guests arriving, giggles arrived and didn't need anything from me to make herself comfortable and setup, she was a hoot from the get-go, kids and adults loved watching. I didn't even want to walk away to finish my party preparations. The price was reasonable, she managed the time very well to get all kids taken care of (balloon animals and face painting) in the time we planned, and did not nickel and dime us down to the minute, extremely flexible and accommodating. I tried calling at 9:30am wanting to book a reservation for my niece birthday although we need their service for the same day. I left them a voice mail to call me back. I also went online to make a reservation and it allowed me to book it for the same day at 2:30pm. I received a confirmation in my email about the reservation. I called at 11:00am to confirm my reservation and left a voice mail again. Since i did not receive a call back i was assuming that they will arrive at 2:30pm. 2:30pm came and no one showed up. Around 2:35pm i received a call from a guy saying that him and princess are in los Angeles and couldn't make it. They could have returned my call in the morning to tell me that instead they called on the actual time to tell me that they could not make it. On the online reservation it should have told me if there was a time limitation to book the reservation plus the website made it sound like they have more employees to cover the services.plus the service is not cheap yet we were willing to pay for the service for an hour. read more

My husband who was turning 65 decided at the last minute to have a party. With only 3 days to plan I searched Yelp for ideas on entertainment. I found Absurd Entertainment and spoke with Joseph in detail as to what I was looking for. He was a delight to speak with and his recommendation was right on. We hired the Marilyn Monroe impersonator to come and entertain the group (a party of 60). She sang him a birthday song and entertained the crowd with her wit and charm. She showed up on time and was very accommodating when people wanted to take her picture. I would certainly hire this group again and would recommend them full heartily. Unfortunately, I have to give Absurd Entertainment a negative rating. I had hired them for a singing telegram for my parents' 60th wedding anniversary party last weekend. When Joseph (as a gorilla in a pink tutu) and his amplifier assistant entered the room, he found my parents right away. This was great! What happened next was not so great. He sang two songs, and something was off with the amplifier, so not only were the words to the songs unable to be understood, his microphone kept cutting in and out. The gorilla costume he was wearing didn't exactly fit, so the head kept moving around, and you could see his nose in the eye holes, etc. It probably would have worked out better if the venue was a much smaller room. He also arrived later than the determined time. Needless to say, the $175 for the 15 mins. wasn't one of our best purchases for the party. read more

For some time now I have been wanting to find an occasion to hire a magician. When I saw K-Hi at a children's party I knew I needed to have a party. After obtaining a business card for Absurd Entertainment I had the vision of having a strolling magician for a holiday party at our house. I am a planner, so I contacted Bosco the Magician early on just in case he was already getting booked for the holiday season. He always promptly responded to my inquiries and seemed genuinely interested in my party planning. The day of the party, Bosco called me an hour prior to his arrival time to let me know he was on his way. A nice touch for a frazzled hostess preparing for a party. Bosco arrived on time if not early and came right in and got down to business just as I requested. We hired him for an hour and half and it was a fun filled evening. He must have done at least 5 different magic shows throughout each room of our house throughout the evening. Bosco remembered our guests names, addressed them personally throughout the evening and did a fantastic job making sure he interacted with everyone. Bosco is a seasoned entertainer and an incredibly smooth magician. Don't bother trying to catch him in the act, you can't. And why bother, it is much more enjoyable to watch the magic the show and see your guests having a great time. read more
