More long tables and benches - good for groups. And the sushis on the belts looked appetizing too (as a part of lunch special - it is $3.50 each). Seating at the belt area is pretty limited (8-10 seats). The dish was pretty good. Soup base was tasty and portion wasn't too little either. Just a little salty. With it, I was given some side dishes (potatoes and kimchi). Overall I was satisfied with my meal :)

Service is friendly as it has always been and also quite attentive. The sashimi is fresh and there's a nice selection on its platter. The main staple we get here though, for lunch is usually the business lunch specials which are such good value. We get half don and half noodle, which is great for those who are indecisive - you can get the best of both worlds! The don we get is usually one with the chicken katsu and the noodle is the ramen or the udon. Don't expect too much from the ramen and you won't be disappointed. It's not their specialty here so it's not got that thick pork bone soup style to it but it's tasty nonetheless. Bento boxes are also good value with a miso soup and rice as well as tea, you'll be wanting a siesta afterwards! Everything is always consistently cooked well and prepared well. The salads are fresh and the karaage chicken is nice and crispy (beats KFC any day!). Our go to bento is usually one with the karaage. Also in the bento is sashimi, and a spring roll or gyoza if you get the deluxe versions. The karaage comes as a side in the deluxe version! The menu is varied and there's so much to choose from. We've had most things and never disappointed. The place has that Japanese dining bar feel to it because it is so small with about seating inside for 25 maybe? but it has seating outside too. They are plump & moist, & full of flavour.. The Inari are also well made & very tasty. There is plenty of seating, & on weekends in the evening they allow BYO alcohol. this is a great option for a good quick bite before going to see a movie with friends on a weekend. There are no bathrooms within the restaurant, however there is disabled access, & the sushi makes this restaurant worth a visit for a quick & inexpensive bite to eat.

I've been to the Oyster and Noodle Bars inside David Jones Food Halls at Market Street in the city before, and upon such positive impressions, I have given their Japanese fare a few goes. First off, their take away is fresh and ever so delightful. The seaweed portions ($3.50 for a small) are ever so fresh, and brightly green. Eat your greens indeed. Have also tried their sashimi, and the raw tuna is a king-hit favourite. At the eat in bar itself, the only drink they service directly is a green tea. I think this is $2.50 off hand. Otherwise they class the iconic "Miso Soup" as a drink. $2.50 a pop, and such great value. Definitely not powdery, and packs some miso punch. I originally tried the Tempura Prawns ($9.95, as pictured) and they are okay. Serving portions are a little small - you can do better at a traditional Japanese restaurant, yet paves the way for a good snack although overpriced for what it's worth. I love the seaweed ship ($3 off hand), such great value. Fresh and filling seaweed stacked on a bed of rice. Not being a rice lover, I was impressed with how fresh and tasty the rice was. Definitely not grainy. Great to try at least once.
