This was my first time going to a laundromat in years. I had a large bulky mattress topper that wouldn't have fit or gotten clean in my washing machine, so that's why I came to the laundromat. The owner was very helpful telling which washing machine to put my mattress topper in. It cost me $5.25 to wash and one dollar to dry. It came out very clean and dry. I have been coming to this laundromat for more than a year now and I never have any problems. Prices are pretty standard and the dryers work well/fast. The workers/owners are very friendly & hardworking people; I always see them busy with folding/washing. I appreciate that they offer snacks/drinks and Ive indulged in this from time to time. The area is fine, it looks like it might be a 'bad' area but its mostly because its near Peter's Creek so there is a lot of movement. I've almost always done my laundry alone at all different times & as a female never had issues! read more

Academy Laundromat is fabulous! I dropped of 90 pounds of cloths to be washed and folded. (My daughter and son-in-law have been living out of a suitcase for a few months). They did an amazing job! They finished the project within a day. Everything was folded impeccably! As I was loading items into the car the owner handed me three plastic bags. One had a few knit items that they did not think should be washed/dried, the second had $15 that was left in pockets the third had 56 Euros left in pockets from a recent trip. This laundromat handled a king sized down comforter without breaking a sweat. They also charged me what a normal comforter would be laundered for. Everyone was very polite and helpful, and my item was ready for pickup at the promised time. I will be back! read more

These women speak little English so do not come here if you are ignorant. They are very sweet and run a nice facility. Machines work great and if you do not have time they can do it for you, price is a little high but I'm a full time student plus i work 3 jobs and the time i came my dryer was broken so I had no time. I've used Academy Laundromat five times for wash-dry-fold service and I'm thrilled with the service. When I get behind on my laundry after a rip or during a busy work week, it's nice to have an easy and fast option to get caught up! I bring in a large cloth hamper that is probably the equivalent of 2.5 loads in my washing machine and it typically costs me $18-20. If I come in the morning, it's ready in the afternoon. Everything is pristinely folded. (You will never want to unfold your fitted sheets once you get them back from there.) The detergent they use is very fragrant which may be off putting to some, but per another reviewer, you might be able to change it. They also offer wash-dry-hang which I have not yet used, so I just sort my laundry to bring them only items that I want tumble dried. The two women working there are very courteous. If it's your first time there and you're not sure what to do, just walk straight to the back with your laundry in a bag and go to the little window in the back. Let them know you're dropping off for wash-dry-fold. She will weigh your laundry and write up a receipt for you. You can pay then or at pick up, but you'll know in advance what you owe. Both the other two reviewers addressed safety - I am a female, often accompanied by two small children and I've felt completely safe there. I am always there during the daytime and usually morning. Be wise and aware of your surroundings but don't let the location stop you from utilizing a great service! read more

I'm reviewing this place before I even get my laundry back. As long as my laundry comes back good I'll update this to 5 stars. I almost didn't go because of a previous review saying this was in the "heart of the ghetto." Get out of here with that BS!! I'm going to assume that users wife wrote that comment and not him. This place is just off a major road. It may not be the nicest neighborhood but this is far from a "ghetto." The girl working was super nice. I asked what kind of detergent they used and asked if I could upgrade to Tide. That request was no problem for her and she also threw in some Downey. I'm going to be here for a month for work and as long as my laundry comes back ok I'll be using them again. Nice staff, reasonable prices (10 lb minimum on wash and fold), AND NOT A SCARY NEIGHBORHOOD!! read more

Great place to do laundry. Staff is courteous. A change machine is available. The washers do a great job and the dryers are HUGE!! Both had plenty of room to do the queen size comforter I had, as well as a light weight rug. There aren't a ton of chairs and there isn't a TV (thank goodness) -- I was perfectly happy with my book. I have used this laundromat probably 10 times over the past year. Each time, I have been pleased. I take my laundry in bags usually separated by color. The service is great, and my clothes are meticulously folded when I return to pick them up. Prices are reasonable. I would recommend this location to anyone. read more

Super clean, small and quiet. Not crowded at all. Beautiful stainless steel Huebsch machines! Clean folding tables, disinfectant wipes conveniently available to wipe down tables. Reasonable cost, ample parking, climate control, tv, it was great. Will be using this establishment in the future! read more
