This building is pretty old and as a result, a lot of upgrades are required. For one thing, even with the window completely shut, my 5th floor westerly facing room used to collect a little snowdrift on the inside of the window sill. At the time, this didn't bother me a whole lot but it did probably contribute to a series of colds that I had all throughout first year. The entire building also seemed to suffer from a temperature problem as well. Laundry facilities were patchy at best. Don't even ask about the food. I lost weight in residence, put it that way. Overall, OBH could probably due with an upgrade or two! I understand that the lower 4 floors are currently rented out to 'a health care industry partner.' Pretty cryptic... I feel for whoever has to live beneath 2 floors of first year university students.

Location: Howe Hall is located inside the Dalhousie University campus. It's a very good location because it is walking distance to the waterfront and city centre- restaurant and bars. And it's about 10 mins busing to downtown, the route 1 bus stop is right outside of the residence. Parking: free, but you need to register your vehicle. Room service: daily if requested. Wifi: free. Bathroom: shared, gender-neutral bathroom. Very clean and bright. Food: cafeteria in the building is open daily, buffet style, and cheap! Overall: I am glad I stayed there instead of some sketchy airbnb places. It's the best value for your $$.

My school made the decision to call the mobile crisis line to get peace officers to come and do wellness checks on me daily sometimes multiple times a day for multiple days. The police and peace officers were extremly well trained to do their jobs. They invited me to church with them and ensured my well being was good. They came with 8 peace officers and involuntarily took me against my will to the emergency room and forcefully medicated me. They sat by my side, fed me snacks and talked to me for over 12 hours until I was admitted to the emergency room. I finally given psych treatment that I needed for over 3 years. The police and peace officers that Dal contacted actually advocated for me to get a TON of resources including assisted living, a work program for people with disabilities, psych nurses to come to my home weekly to check in on me and unlimited food. I am forever grateful for their decision to contact the peace officers to involuntarily admitted me into the psych unit because multiple professionals refused to get me treatment in the past for years and I got brain damage because of it. I thank God everyday for this school getting me the treatment and resources that I needed to survive and reach my full potential. Sadly I had to leave school due to my acute psychosis and brain damage but I will be forever grateful for them advocating for me to get the resources that I needed to survive and thrive.

My college, the school of health and human performance, on campus was falling apart and reeked of dead rats. My residence was filled with asbestos and I would hazard to guess that proper precautions were not taken during renovations. Please, please go elsewhere. Any scholarship they offer you is simply a ploy to take more courses. Don't fall for Dalhousie's garbage. If I could rate this less than 1 star, I would.

I ordered a shower door from Home Depot.SKU #1001026464 cost $929.00…read moreI received and was installed by HDRep SKU #1001094211cost $653.00 the shower I was billed for after instal. SKU# 1001026575 cost $1009.00 plus installation $200.00 plus tax $180.00. when I told Home Depot the wrong door was installed they confirmed to me the mixup and told me to call installer. The install company "GLight" from Halifax. I call glight and was told by Mark that he was going to give me a couple hundred dollars back. I told him no get the correct shower door installed. He then told me that Home Depot had given him the wrong one. I then went to Home Depot and told them what was told to me. HD stated that that was incorrect as they would only give the door that was ordered. I spoke with HD customer service who for some reason blames me and wants me to pay for the wrongly installed door. I again spoke with Glight and was told this time that the door I ordered was not available. I again went to HD and confirmed that they did have availability of that door. Glight then told me and HD that the door I wanted would not work because of base type. Another trip to HD only to find out that the door we ordered would work in our shower. HD Customer service regardless of all the information told me to pay for the door that was wrongly installed. I then told Home Depot that I was unsatisfied with the product and work and was exercising their 90 return policy. To that I was told by Customer Service that guarantee did not apply to me and that I still should pay for door I did not order or want. Home Depot was also made aware of my medical condition that the door installed was a hazard to. I believe Home Depot should take back the wrongly installed door and put in the correct one. Don't order anything online from Home Depot to be picked up at New Minas Home Depot store. They are…read moreso unorganized that they lost my order (which they confirmed had been delivered to the store). I waited 40 minutes and no one offered me an apology, a place to sit down, or said, "we will deliver it to your house when we find it". They just ran around like chickens without heads. I finally had to leave to go to an appointment. They promised to phone me when they found the item. On the off chance that they might have found it, I stopped by the store on my way home from my appointment. I called from the car in the parking lot so that if they hadn't found it, I could go on my way. Guess what?! "Oh, yeah, we found it after you left. Was gonna call you...." WHEN were they going to call?! I spoke to the manager who kept giving me excuses. BAD customer service! Never again!
