I will admit it is my mistake for trusting they did their job correctly and not verifying my home information was put in correctly. I was busy buying a house and trying to move across country with a family and didn't prioritize this. I have learned a valuable lesson. After Hurricane Helene hit, I learned most of the victims didn't have flood insurance so I decided to call Doran to see if I had it. Long story short, seeking this information I learned that the age of my roof was wrong. Allstate said they would only cover 50% of a roof repair claim because they said I had my original roof (17 years old) even though the roof was brand new. I could not get any proof of purchase for the replacement because the sellers replaced the roof and had no documentation which I explained in the original conversation with Doran. So Doran had two jobs. 1. Find out from Allstate if I could get an inspection so they could verify the age of the roof. 2. See if they would offer me flood insurance. He never called me back. That didn't stop him from hitting me up for life insurance 3 weeks later. So I explained to him that he still hadn't called me back regarding those issues and he became very rude and started gaslighting me saying I was supposed to get home inspection information when that was never part of the original conversation. Just admit you completely forgot about me and what you were supposed to be doing, and let's move on and get this fixed. That's your job. You don't even have to admit it to me, but at least be professional as you are providing customer service and definitely don't gaslight me. I offered to send him a copy of my home inspection (which makes no mention of the roof age) and he became very petty. Because of his attitude and unwillingness to help me, I tried to work around him by going directly to Allstate customer service, but they kept telling me that I needed to do this stuff through my agent. As a customer I felt like I was treated very poorly and decided to go with another agent. In that process of finding another agent I learned that none of the information for my home was correct. He had my home listed as a stick-built house and it was a manufactured home, the roof age was wrong, he had my home listed as 100% gas heating when it's all electric, and the foundation was wrong. I was advised by the new agent that I needed to get this information corrected immediately because if I needed to file a claim it would be denied. I spent all day trying to sort this out. Allstate said he would have to sign off on a change of agent request (which could take up to 10 business days), and he could deny it (which he was already being petty). I felt stuck and helpless. Eventually I just decided to cancel with Allstate and get a new policy through another agency. Please make sure that you check your contract so that your home designation and materials are listed correctly. I have a suspicion he didn't put it in correctly on purpose because I probably would have been quoted a higher rate and he just wanted to suck me in to get money. Not sure if this is a scheme he has going, so I recommend all of his clients go check this information if they haven't already. Your claim could be denied. I have this suspicion because why else would he be so hesitant and rude in trying to help me fix my policy? My biggest concern was that if he was this difficult to deal with just to make sure my policy was correct, what would happen if I actually had to file a claim and needed his help advocating for me with the insurance company??? Who knows. But it was a chance I wasn't willing to take. Also the incompetency of issuing a completely incorrect and ineffective policy in the first place, and that once I became a client he was inefficient, rude, and hard to work with.
