Having weighed up all options to move our belongings to our new home in Spain, we opted to hire a…read more7.5tonne from Admiral for the sum of £1175 for a week. We were happy to pay on the basis we were provided with a vehicle suitable to spending a week driving a 4500miles round trip. Like many people, I had never driven a 7.5tonne before, let alone know what to look for. Its the sort of experience you do once unless its your job. Over the week, we found the vehicle to be harbouring a number of faults which we reported upon our return of the vehicle to Admiral. To say that the response to our complaints fell on deaf ears is to put it mildly. It was even suggested that one of the faults was of our doing. The manager, a person known as 'Fran' sent us a very tacit reply to our complaints with no offer of recompense other than 15% of our next vehicle hire! As if we will be doing that from Spain. The faults were not minor. Third gear on the vehicle was virtually impossible to engage (really handy when traversing roundabouts in traffic) tail lift was in a dangerous condition, drivers window fell out, forward facing camera was not adhered to windscreen properly(kept falling off) and several other issues such as leaking fuel cap when tank full, straps missing from roller door and so forth. We ordered this vehicle no less than 5 weeks prior to collection so having informed Admiral we were travelling to Spain, foolishly in hindsight, expected the truck to be in tip-top condition. The fact that ALL the issues we complained about were totally dismissed as inconsequential is exasperating. The 'Fran' person (never met with her) sent an email that is tantamount to abusive and blames ourselves for all the problems. So if you are looking for customer service, DO NOT use Admiral Self Drive Van & Minibus hire of Maple Leaf Ind.Est, Walsall - not to be confused with any other company of the same name. It appears to be that their motto is " We've had your money and don't give a damn whether you've had a good experience or not. And don't bother to complain."
