I have been a patient of Dr. Stuart's for nearly nine years…read more At first, my work hours and assignment locations (north central Portland) allowed me greater convenience to select flexible appointments. Later, when my hours and work location (I'm in Beaverton now) moved me further away and sometimes limited my choice of appointment times, I ignored the advice of many of my friends telling me to locate a closer Chiropractor and stayed with Dr. Stuart; her being the ONLY reason or need for me to come into Portland (from west Beaverton to east Portland). I tell you this because she is the genuine article. She's worth my trip. One thing she won't do is toot her own horn. She plays it off, but she cares a great deal about her clients care and well being. Dr. Stuart is meticulous and compassionate in getting to the root of your discomfort and finding the cause. She also respects her patient's privacy. She is prompt with her appointments; your time with her IS your time; she doesn't double or triple book like some offices. She works the neck, head, spine and hips and has even done some TMJ work on me; doing wonders for my pain management! She has a modified schedule (closed Thursdays but open Saturdays) to help accommodate those with weird schedules. Her office also utilizes several Licensed Massage Therapists if the need (and your insurance covers) arises. Sorry, it's not just the Doc; they also work miracles by the hour as well. (I'm coping with the idea that my favorite therapist is leaving someday soon to become one of our nation's BEST nurses...so proud!) She bills some insurance (you'll need to call, I don't know who). I've seen worker's comp cases come in, but since it wasn't any of my business, I didn't pay any attention; I can't tell you about what is and isn't accepted. Give Dr. Stuart a call. Stop in and give her a chance. It says "Appointment Only" below, which is mostly true. Sometimes they have cancellations and they may be able to fit you in...keep in mind Then find out if your insurance covers the massage with it. If not, see if you can handle that part of the cost. The SMARTEST THING in pain management I've ever seen was to have a Massage Therapist in a Chiropractor's office. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. Give Amanda, Lissa (short for Melissa) or Sylvia a chance to work out the rest of the kinks before or after your adjustment. YOU'LL GET HOOKED! (this is my opinion. Dr. Philbrook took the time to listen to me and gave me a complete neurological exam before deciding what course of action she wanted me to take. I had persistent low back pain after being rear-ended by a careless driver while stopped in…read morebumper-to-bumper city traffic. After seeing another physical therapist frequently for a solid six months with little improvement, that practitioner basically gave up on me and suggested I see either a physiatrist or a go to a pain clinic. That's when a colleague recommended I see Lee O'Connor at Synergy Spine Therapy. Thank goodness she mentioned him. What I like about Lee is that he is a scientist at heart. He practices a philosophy called the McKenzie Method. Essentially, each visit he put me through a torture scheme (he called it an "algorithm," but I know better). He systematically tested what made me improve and what made me worse at every appointment, using the same assessment each time. While I sometimes left my twice-weekly visits with him "flared up," overall, I made immediate, positive progress, after being stalled for six months. As I told Lee, "It's a good thing I trust you so much, because otherwise I wouldn't allow you to torment me like this." As part of gathering background information, Lee guessed, "I'll bet your last PT gave you about 30 exercises over the course of your work with them, right?" True! He remarked that this occurs frequently when PTs have a patient that confounds them - they throw many exercises at them to see if, by chance, one of them works. He also inquired whether my other PT had me work on strengthening exercises, and again the answer was yes. He said this was another common "go to" for PTs who were out of ideas. He definitely thinks there is a place for strengthening, but that typically is most effective AFTER the main complaint has improved or resolved. I love the fact that Lee gave me one or, at most, two exercises to do at home. Bonus: he hand draws the exercise instructions for you with adorable, smiling stick figures. Lee has a great sense of humor and is entertaining to chat with as an extra plus. I would recommend him even if he were the crankiest, grumpiest PT in the world, though, because he is a master of his profession. He zeroed in on what my issue was in two visits and I then started improving rapidly. He predicted that the characteristics of my back problem would change somewhat after we starting addressing the problem correctly, and - right on schedule - this occurred as he foresaw. He mentioned that flare ups and setbacks are a part of the journey. When that happened to me because I overdid yard work one weekend, he helped me quickly get back to my new, less painful baseline. Lee's whole goal is to teach you how to correct course yourself when you have issues arise so that you can stop seeing him. He actually wants his patients to graduate and not come back. Boy, is that unusual and refreshing in a PT! Lee taught me what he calls "rescue exercises" for when I have a flare up. I still have some back issues but - thanks to Lee - I have the tools to make them better more quickly. If you have what seems like incurable back problems, do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Lee. If everyone else has given up on your back getting better and/or you yourself have given up, take heart and have hope. I believe that if anyone can help you, Lee can. I've never written a review for any provider, but I felt moved to pen this one because I know it has the potential to help people who are in a dark, hopeless place find their best chance at getting better by seeing Lee.

A friend strongly recommended I give Springbrook Chiropractic a chance. Admittedly, I went in rather skeptical. John was very patient and willing to answer my plethora of questions. After only six visits (adjustment and massage each visit) I was shocked to see my daily neck pain had virtually vanished. The massage therapist at this facility is absolutely top notch, and really hones in on the areas that need work. I never felt "pressured" in any regard to continue treatment or buy anything else.
